About the job
UI / UX Designer
Full-time. Remote.
Location: Remote — India, Southeast Asia, or Central and Eastern Europe. We need substantial working-hour overlap with IST.
Type: Full-time.
Start: As soon as possible. This is our highest-priority hire.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
We're a privacy-first fintech company building two products: a payroll platform that lets companies pay global teams in fiat or crypto, privately, and a consumer app where the people paid through the platform can swap, transfer and use that money without their financial life being public by default.
We are building an alternative for people and companies who want the benefits of crypto without making their financial lives public.
Privacy is only useful if the product around it can be trusted. Security is treated as the product, not a stage before launch, and we are building the system to be lawful by construction rather than compliant as an afterthought.
Our payroll product is live and companies are already running real pay cycles through it.
The consumer app is next.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
This isn't a role where you'll inherit somebody else's mature design system and spend the next year maintaining it.
You will be our first dedicated UI/UX Designer, working directly with the founders and engineers to define how both products should look, feel and behave.
There is a lot already built, but the design standard has not caught up with the ambition of the products yet.
Changing that is the opportunity.
It is also why this is our highest-priority hire.
Design currently sits on the critical path for the rest of the team: better flows and clearer systems let engineering move faster and give customers a product that feels as credible as the infrastructure underneath it.
You will have genuine ownership, but you won't be designing in a vacuum.
Members of the founding team come from design backgrounds and will work hands-on with you in Figma. You will also work closely with our UX Researcher and the engineering team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll start with the payroll platform.
- Redesign the core payroll flows.
- Design for payment reality: pending, failed, partial and retry states are first-class product states, not edge cases.
- Make complex information feel simple, including multi-currency totals, FX timing and country-specific compliance.
- Create experiences that make moving money feel clear, predictable and trustworthy.
Then the scope expands across the consumer app and the design language connecting both products.
- Bring the consumer app to the standard users expect from top-tier fintech.
- Build and maintain the Figma system across tokens, components and variables.
- Help define and refine the company's brand values, then turn them into design principles the team can actually use.
- Translate those principles into type, colour, motion, component tone and visual language, and keep them consistent as we ship.
- Help establish the product and documentation tone of voice, with channel-specific variations where they are useful.
HOW YOU'LL WORK
We're small, remote and high-trust.
You'll speak directly with the founders and the people building what you design. Decisions happen in days rather than quarters.
- Work in a tight feedback loop with founders and engineers so drift gets caught early.
- Partner with the UX Researcher so decisions are evidence-led rather than driven by whoever has the strongest opinion.
- Work Figma-first, using components, variables and systems that engineering can actually build from.
- Use AI and reference tools intelligently to explore and iterate faster without lowering the quality bar.
- Ship regularly, learn from the real product and iterate.
Because the team operates across time zones, you need to be comfortable owning your area and moving work forward without constant supervision.
We value high agency, but also strong EQ: clear english communication, good judgement and being easy to work with matter here.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Week 1: You've audited both products, understand the biggest experience gaps and have a prioritised fix list the team can act on.
- Around Day 35: The core payroll experience has been redesigned and is moving through implementation for MVP.
- By Month 2: A practical design system is in place and the payroll platform and consumer app are beginning to feel like one product family.
These are useful markers, not bureaucracy.
Priorities may move as you learn more about the products and users.
WHO YOU ARE
- You have around 4+ years of experience shipping web and mobile products, with a portfolio that shows real constraints, decisions and trade-offs — not only polished final screens.
- You're strong in both interaction and visual design. We need both.
- You've worked on fintech, payments or data-dense B2B products, or can show work with comparable complexity.
- You're fast without being careless and comfortable seeing your work move into production regularly.
- You're self-directed and want meaningful ownership rather than waiting for a design manager to assign every task.
- You're deeply comfortable in Figma, including components and variables, and technically fluent enough to have productive conversations with React engineers.
- You use tools such as Mobbin and AI thoughtfully to move faster, explore more options and improve your output rather than outsourcing your judgement, you review what AI helps you with, not trust it implicitly.
You don't need to tick every box perfectly.
If your portfolio shows strong product judgement and this sounds like the kind of environment in which you do your best work, we'd still like to hear from you.
WHY YOU MIGHT TAKE THIS ROLE
At a larger company, you can spend months working inside a design system somebody else created, on one small part of a product whose direction was decided several layers above you.
Here, the trade is different: less structure, much more influence.
You'll help set the design standard, work directly with the people making product decisions and see your work move into the product quickly.
If you want your next role to give you a genuinely visible before-and-after — where you can point to the product a year from now and know you helped define what good looks like — that's what this role can offer.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
We want to move quickly without turning the process into an endurance test.
Strong applications should hear from us within 48 hours, and we aim to complete the full process in around a week.
Stage 1 — Initial conversation
Around 30 minutes.
Your background, the products you've worked on, what you're looking for next and whether the role makes sense on both sides.
Stage 2 — Meet the founders
Around 45 to 60 minutes.
We'll go deeper into the company, the products, the design problems we're trying to solve and how the team works.
You'll have plenty of time to ask us questions too.
Portfolio review
After Stage 2, we'll ask you to walk us through a small selection of real work.
We care about more than polished screens: we want to understand the problem, your process, the constraints, the trade-offs you made and why you made the decisions you did.
Stage 3 — Final conversation
Around 45 minutes.
We'll talk through how you'd approach your first 30, 60 and 90 days, align on expectations and make sure the fit feels right on both sides.
