UX Engineer (Contract to Hire)

We build mobile apps for small business owners and are looking for a product designer to help build, simplify and improve the UI/UX across our suite. You’ll turn real user behavior into clear, simple product ideas, favoring simplicity, clarity, and speed over polish.

We’re an AI-first team looking for someone excited about how AI is changing the way products get built. You should already be experimenting with and regularly using tools like Claude Code, Figma AI, and other AI design and coding tools. You’ll have real ownership, working directly with founders, engineers, and customers to take ideas from insight to working product.

This isn’t a traditional product designer role, and it isn’t a traditional front-end engineering role either. We’re looking for someone who can move fluidly from understanding a customer problem → designing the experience → building an interactive, near-production-quality prototype.

As part of the interview, we’ll ask you to show us how you use AI in your product-building process. We care less about specific tools and more about how you experiment, build, and think about what’s newly possible.

What You’ll Do

• Take product ideas from insight to working prototype, in close collaboration with engineers and founders.
• Spend time understanding real user behavior through session recordings, usage data, support tickets, and customer conversations.
• Identify friction, confusion, and unnecessary steps—and simplify them.
• Design clear, minimal flows that are easy to navigate and understand.
• Build interactive, near-production-quality prototypes using React or similar frameworks.
• Use prototypes to test ideas and validate the experience before investing heavily in engineering.
• Work closely with engineers to understand technical feasibility early and turn prototypes into shipped product.
• Help build and evolve reusable UI patterns and components.
• Iterate quickly based on real usage and feedback.

• Genuinely excited about AI and already incorporating it into how you design, prototype, and code.
• Able to move quickly from a rough idea or customer problem to something people can actually use.
• Comfort working autonomously in a fast-moving, low-process team.
• Practical, low-ego, and open to being wrong.
• Curious about users and how products are actually used.
