The Role
Troopr is hiring an AI-First SDE Intern to build real product features alongside our engineering team — not throwaway side projects. This is a high-ownership internship where you will ship code to production while aggressively leveraging AI tools across the development lifecycle.
You will use AI to accelerate coding, debugging, refactoring, testing, and documentation, with mentorship from senior engineers. We are looking for someone who treats AI as a core engineering tool, learns fast, and is hungry to grow into a strong full-stack engineer.

What You’ll Do

1. Build product features end-to-end using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js), with guidance from senior engineers.
2. Adopt an AI-first development workflow, using AI tools for coding, debugging, refactoring, testing, and documentation.
3. Develop and integrate Node.js and Express APIs, accelerating your work through AI-assisted code generation.
4. Build modern React components and interfaces with clean, maintainable structure.
5. Work with MongoDB schemas and queries, using AI to understand and improve them.
6. Use AI-powered debugging tools to investigate issues and learn how production systems behave.
7. Collaborate with engineering and product to prototype, iterate, and ship quickly.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have

1. Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science / Engineering, or equivalent self-taught experience with a strong project portfolio.
2. Working knowledge of JavaScript and at least one part of the MERN stack, demonstrated through projects, coursework, or personal builds.
3. AI-first mindset — you actively use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) to learn and build faster.
4. Strong problem-solving ability and a genuine eagerness to learn.
5. Clear written and verbal communication.
6. Coachability — openness to feedback, structured mentorship, and rapid iteration.

Strong Signals

1. A GitHub profile, deployed apps, or side projects we can look at.
2. Something you have shipped end-to-end, even a small full-stack app.
3. Hackathon, open-source, or freelance experience.
4. Experience building with or around AI tools and APIs.
5. Curiosity about B2B SaaS products and how they are built.

Success Looks Like

1. You ship real, useful features to production during the internship.
2. You ramp quickly by using AI tools effectively in your daily workflow.
3. You take ownership of tasks and follow them through to completion.
4. You grow noticeably as an engineer — and become a strong candidate for a full-time role.
