About the job

About ForkMesh

We're building ForkMesh, a decentralized, AI-native developer platform that makes Git repositories portable, resilient, and always cloneable.

We're a small team preparing for our $1M angel round, and we're looking for an exceptional QA Tester / Contributor who wants to help us build a reliable product from day one.

This isn't for someone who just wants to click buttons, write "works fine," and disappear. We want someone who genuinely enjoys breaking software, finding real problems, and helping fix them.

We're looking for someone who can test ForkMesh every day and actively help make the product better.

Compensation

$100/month

Remote. Any timezone.

We're flexible about when you work. The important part is that the agreed work gets completed consistently and on time.

What You'll Do

  • Test the entire product after every update.
  • Test ForkMesh World extensively and try to break it.
  • Find bugs, edge cases, broken flows, and UX problems.
  • Report bugs with clear reproduction steps so developers can actually reproduce them.
  • Verify bug fixes and make sure they don't introduce new problems.
  • Test new features before they're released.
  • Use ForkMesh like a real user and identify confusing or frustrating experiences.
  • Give honest feedback about the product.
  • Investigate issues and, when you're comfortable with the code, fix them yourself.
  • Contribute fixes and improvements through ForkMesh.

You'll Need To Get Your Hands Dirty

We don't want a tester who only uses the UI.

You should be comfortable getting into the codebase, understanding how things work, and contributing fixes.

You'll work directly with the ForkMesh repository:

ForkMesh Repository

7-Day Paid Trial

Before joining permanently, you'll go through a 7-day paid trial.

During the trial, you'll:

  • Set up ForkMesh on your machine.
  • Learn how the product works.
  • Test ForkMesh every day.
  • Test ForkMesh World.
  • Find and report real issues.
  • Investigate bugs.
  • Fix issues where possible.
  • Collaborate with the team.
  • Show us how you think and communicate.

The trial works both ways. We want to see whether you're comfortable with the product and the way we work, and you get to see whether you actually enjoy working with us.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for crazy smart people who can hit the ground running.

You should:

  • Pay extreme attention to detail.
  • Know how to communicate clearly.
  • Be comfortable working independently.
  • Have basic programming knowledge.
  • Be comfortable reading and modifying code.
  • Know Git and understand how to contribute to a repository.
  • Be curious enough to investigate problems instead of just reporting them.
  • Care about the quality of what you're building.
  • Be comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Not need someone holding your hand for every task.

Your work proves who you are.

We don't really care about your resume.

Show Us What You've Built

Show us:

  • Bug reports you've written.
  • Open-source contributions.
  • Projects you've tested or built.
  • Your GitHub profile.
  • ForkMesh contributions.
  • Or simply the coolest thing you've ever worked on.

If your work is impressive, we'll notice.

Humans invented résumés because it's easier than judging actual ability. We'd rather skip that part.

Who This Is For

This is for someone who sees a broken feature and thinks:

> "I wonder why this is happening."

Then actually goes and finds out.

If you want to learn, contribute to a real product, work directly with founders, and help build ForkMesh from the ground up, this role is for you.
