Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for leading the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and financial planning support. This role ensures the integrity of financial information while supporting strategic decision-making in a fast-growing, technology-driven organization.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with business acumen and experience supporting a high-growth, multi-location company with recurring revenue, equipment manufacturing or distribution, field operations, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Cash Management
- Payroll accounting
- Fixed Assets
- Inventory accounting
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, executive reporting packages, and variance analyses.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures consistent with U.S. GAAP.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Produce monthly management reporting packages including:
- P&L
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow
- KPI dashboards
- Budget vs. Actual analysis
- Support annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes.
- Analyze profitability by:
- Region
- Product line
- Customer segment
- Service offering
- Monitor working capital and cash flow performance.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Manage inventory accounting for surveillance equipment and related components.
- Maintain accurate inventory valuation and costing methodologies.
- Oversee physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
- Analyze inventory reserves, obsolescence, and cost variances.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.
Revenue Recognition
- Ensure proper accounting for:
- Rental contracts
- Monitoring services
- Installation revenue
- Subscription-based recurring revenue
- Equipment sales
- Maintain compliance with applicable revenue recognition standards.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Design and maintain strong internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Coordinate annual financial statement audits and tax engagements.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and insurance providers.
- Support state sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Oversee daily cash management and banking relationships.
- Manage cash forecasting and liquidity planning.
- Monitor debt compliance and banking covenants.
- Optimize working capital.
Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
- Establish departmental goals and performance expectations.
- Drive process improvements through automation and technology.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with:
- Sales
- Operations
- Supply Chain
- Human Resources
- Executive Leadership
- Provide financial support for pricing, capital investments, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 3+ years leading accounting teams
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience with ERP systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience managing annual audits
Preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, technology, equipment rental, security, telecommunications, or SaaS environments
- Experience with inventory and cost accounting
- Multi-entity accounting experience
- Experience supporting private equity-backed or high-growth companies
- Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Experience with recurring revenue business models
