About the job

About Gryd

Gryd's mission is simple: solar and battery systems in every new-build home. Fully funded. No upfront cost to developers or homebuyers. And managed autonomously to deliver lower energy bills from day one.

We're embarking on a new project to build the technology that powers the next chapter — a platform that turns individual home solar-battery systems into a coordinated, intelligent energy network to minimise bills and reduce peak demand at critical grid nodes. It's novel work, it's funded, and it matters.

We're a small, focused team. We move fast, we care deeply about the work, and we're looking for people who bring the same energy.

The role

This is the role that tells us whether it worked.

As Data Analyst, you'll own the performance evaluation strand of the project — defining the baselines before the platform goes live, and then measuring what it actually delivers once it does. Your analysis will quantify the impact of coordinated operation on household energy costs, carbon emissions, solar self-consumption, and local grid performance.

The evidence you produce will determine whether the project meets its research objectives, underpin our Innovate UK reporting, and form the foundation for Gryd's commercial case at scale. It will also feed directly into what gets built next.

You'll work closely with the Lead Data Scientist and Technical Lead, and report directly to the Project Lead. This is high-trust, high-visibility work in a small team.

What you'll be doing

  • Defining and documenting baseline performance metrics before deployment
  • Designing and running data collection processes across live, occupied home deployments
  • Analysing operational data — household costs, solar self-consumption, battery utilisation, carbon performance
  • Assessing grid interaction — peak demand reduction, local network impacts
  • Producing clear, well-evidenced reports for internal review and Innovate UK reporting
  • Coordinating and analysing user feedback from homeowners and residents across live deployments
  • Identifying anomalies and data quality issues early
  • Collaborating with the technical team on monitoring infrastructure to make sure the right data is captured at the right resolution
  • Contributing to final evidence synthesis and project close-out

What we're looking for

You'll need:

  • Strong analytical skills with real-world operational or time-series dataset experience
  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and visualisation (pandas, matplotlib, Plotly or similar)
  • A rigorous approach to baseline definition, counterfactual analysis, and impact measurement
  • The ability to translate complex data outputs into clear reports for non-technical audiences
  • High attention to detail and a systematic approach to data quality

Helpful but not essential:

  • Energy sector experience — smart meter data, half-hourly settlement data, or building energy performance
  • Familiarity with residential solar, battery storage, or demand-side flexibility
  • Experience producing outputs for grant-funded or regulated research programmes
  • Understanding of carbon accounting or grid emissions intensity data
  • Experience with dashboarding tools (Grafana, Looker, or similar)

What we offer

  • competitive salary
  • 18-month FTC — with genuine potential to go permanent as Gryd scales
  • Hybrid working, London base
  • The chance to produce evidence that directly shapes the future of residential clean energy
  • A small team where your analysis informs product, strategy, and commercial decisions
  • Direct access to the founders
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Contract details

The contract runs from August/September 2026 to approximately January 2028. We're growing fast and the right person will have a route to a permanent role. 1 month notice period. PAYE terms.

Applicant must be located in the UK

To apply, send your CV and a short cover email — no more than a couple of paragraphs — to [email protected].
