Associate Systems Engineer, Electrical Systems

You will draw the schematic. You will build the thing.

Then you will take it into the field, watch it do something nobody predicted, and figure out why.

We are a small team in Sonoma County, Califonria building counter drone hardware from a blank sheet. No inherited baseline, no shelf of specs, no six month wait to find out whether your design was any good. You find out Thursday.

What you will spend your time on

• Defining and verifying electrical and system level requirements across power, sensor, and control subsystems, usually with no pre-written spec to point at
• Creating electrical schematics from scratch, working through wiring harness design, and selecting components like connectors, power distribution parts, and sensors
• Getting your hands on real hardware: bench testing, environmental testing, and field test support, then changing the design based on what you learn
• Writing and running test plans, then documenting what you found, including the parts that went sideways
• Chasing down integration problems shoulder to shoulder with the mechanical, software, and firmware folks
• Keeping technical documentation and interface control documents current and readable

What you bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or something close
• Roughly 2 to 3 years of relevant experience. Internships, co-ops, and serious capstone or club team work with unmanned systems or hardware all count
• Solid electrical fundamentals: power distribution, grounding, schematic design, and comfort with an oscilloscope and a multimeter
• Real curiosity about how the whole thing fits together, not just your corner of it
• Comfort with ambiguity. You would rather build something, break it, and learn from it than wait for a finished spec

Bonus points

• Hands on time with drones, robotics, or similarly complicated electromechanical things, whether that came from a university team, an internship, or your garage
• Some software experience. Nice to have, not required
• Exposure to aerospace standards like AS9100 or MIL STD documentation
• Comfort with schematic capture and PCB layout tools

We run high integrity and low rule. People here do the right thing because that is who they are, not because a policy told them to. Nobody is going to make you sit through a phase gate review to get a part ordered.

We are deliberately small and want to stay that way for a while. If you have worked somewhere that kept adding process until it slowly drained the fun out of solving problems, this is the antidote. If you like that structure, this is not your job, and that is genuinely fine.

About being here

Sonoma County is not the Bay Area, and that is the whole point. No two-hour commute, no cube farm, no badge line. You are forty minutes from the coast and about the same from a redwood grove. This role is onsite because the hardware is here and so are we.
