Senior Project Manger
Full Time, Exempt, Travel up to 25%
Position Description:
Merit is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex renewable energy projects from contract award through project closeout. In this role, you'll serve as the primary point of contact for customers while leading cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget. You'll collaborate with engineering, operations, and field teams to drive successful project execution, build lasting customer relationships, and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Project Performance:
- Successfully manages and is the project owner from pre-contract through Closeout and handover to Service Team
- Responsible for customer satisfaction, project quality, project financial performance, and on time delivery
Customer/Owner Communication:
- Primary Merit project point of contact for EPC, Owner, other subs. Manages expectations and maintains professional and positive relationships
- Effectively and efficiently works through and resolves issues with customers, EPCs, Owners, and other subcontractors on projects
- Establishes clear expectations, durations, and pre-requisites with owners and customers throughout all project gates (Design through Closeout)
- Regularly reports on project status and forecast to Customer and other external stakeholders.
Project Execution:
- As Scrum team leader, manages team resources and fosters collaboration and accountability. Manages all scrum ceremonies and plans all team sprints
- Drives timely execution of Gates, Epics, and Stories to meet internal and customer dates with high quality and high customer satisfaction
- Identifies, understands, manages, escalates and mitigates technical, commercial and financial risks for assigned projects
- Proactively identifies and schedules field visits in anticipation of customer requirements and to ensure high customer satisfaction
- Regularly reports on project status and forecast milestones and timelines to Merit management and supporting teams
- Ensures timely and accurate issuance of POs, component delivery, and production completion in support of project requirements
- Establishes Project Management tools to ensure timely and accurate project execution; accurate maintenance of Project Management tools
- Facilitates efficient and comprehensive handover process to Merit Service Team, Owner, QSE, O&M, others.
Technical and Process Knowledge:
- Understands contracted scope in detail, and contractual requirements with customer and owner
- Sufficiently knowledgeable in Merit product and technology to accurately respond to basic technical questions
- Able to review and discuss content of Merit design documents, Merit hardware and network; able to navigate Controls and SCADA software
- Manages and leads design process, customer and internal design reviews, configuration process, customer FAT, and equipment delivery
- Leads project commissioning process, working closely with EPC, Owner, Subs, ISO, QSE, O&M and others; establishes timelines, schedules resources, and drives pre-requisites
Other
- Mentors and trains Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers
- Mentors new Scrum Team members in agile processes
- Support other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Experience:
- 5+ years of project management experience with demonstrated experience of project management principles and practices
- Proven track record of managing complex projects with high customer satisfaction, meeting deadlines with high quality and staying within budgetary constraints
- Experience working within renewable energy including industrial or utility scale PV solar and Energy Storage
- Familiar with Controls and SCADA systems
- Experience with NetSuite ERP and Jira task management system
- Experience with coaching and mentoring.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.
