Head of Technology

SensFish is a Scottish deep-tech company developing next-generation environmental intelligence infrastructure. We combine Earth Observation, Artificial Intelligence, environmental science and operational data to help governments, industry and international organisations make better decisions about marine and coastal environments.

Our platform transforms complex environmental data into decision-grade intelligence, supporting environmental monitoring, predictive analytics, natural capital, carbon monitoring and operational decision-making.

With international projects already underway and growing commercial opportunities across Europe, Japan and Latin America, we are looking for an exceptional Head of Technology to join our leadership team.

The Role

As Head of Technology, you will work directly with the Founder & CEO to shape the technical direction of SensFish.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will oversee the continued development of our platform, guide engineering decisions, help define our long-term technology strategy and play a key role in building the company’s technical capability as we grow.

You will have genuine influence over the future of both the technology and the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy and architecture of the SensFish platform.
• Oversee software development, cloud infrastructure and AI implementation.
• Work closely with our existing engineering partners while helping build an internal technology function.
• Ensure the platform remains secure, scalable and commercially ready.
• Define development priorities and technical roadmaps.
• Introduce engineering best practices across development, testing and deployment.
• Support technical discussions with customers, partners and investors where appropriate.
• Recruit and mentor future engineering talent as the company grows.

We’re looking for someone who has

• Experience leading technical teams or complex software projects.
• Strong software engineering skills.
• Experience building scalable cloud-based platforms.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Experience working with APIs, databases and large data pipelines.
• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• A genuine interest in building a growing technology company.

It would be an advantage if you have experience with

• Earth Observation or satellite data.
• GIS or geospatial technologies.
• Environmental or climate technology.
• Remote sensing.
• PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Start-ups or scaling technology businesses.
