Founding AI Transformation Lead

Northstone helps businesses become AI-native. We build the operational backbone first, meaning the data model, standards, and guardrails that make AI reliable, then ship workflows and agents on top of it in short cycles. Every engagement ends with systems running in production.

This is our first full-time hire. You would report directly to the founder and own client engagements end to end.

What the job actually is

Half your time goes inside a client's business: interviewing their team, mapping how work really flows, finding the friction worth fixing first. The other half is designing and building the systems that remove it. You will be in the room when a client decides how AI changes their company.

Within three months you are running your own engagements. Within a year, leading a pod of your own.

What you'll do

• Map how a business actually runs and pinpoint the highest-impact place to start
• Design the operating system: data model, standards, governance, then build workflows and agents on top
• Ship production AI agents and AI-powered workflows
• Integrate the tools a business already uses (CRM, email, calendar, file storage, accounting) into one connected system
• Build dashboards that answer "what's on track" in ten seconds
• Own the client relationship: syncs, updates, escalations
• Drive adoption: training, documentation, usage signals

What we're looking for

• 5+ years professional experience, including 3+ in business operations, project management, or owning a core function
• Hands-on experience shipping AI agents and workflows in production, not prototypes. You know how to write agent instructions, set guardrails, and give agents memory and context
• Strong technical proficiency: APIs (auth, webhooks, reading docs), logic and expressions, debugging your own automations. n8n, Make, or Zapier experience. Coding ability is a strong plus
• Data fluency. You can model how data moves across a business. SQL or advanced spreadsheets a plus
• You have owned client or executive relationships directly
• Startup experience in a resource-constrained environment
• Nice to have: Notion AI agents and databases, consulting or agency background, LLM tooling (Claude, OpenAI APIs, vector stores, RAG), a portfolio of things you have shipped.

Not for you if: you want a playbook handed to you, you would rather recommend what to build than build it, or ambiguity freezes you.

The details: Fully remote, US only. We cannot sponsor visas. New York area is a small plus, not a requirement. $125,000 to $175,000.
