Senior IT Project Manager – Oracle Test Automation & Project Coordinator Mentorship
Location: Houston, TX (100% Onsite – Downtown Houston)
Duration: Contract Opportunity (6–8 months initially with potential extension)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday onsite
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Senior IT Project Manager to support enterprise application initiatives focused on Oracle application testing, test automation implementation, vendor coordination, and project delivery leadership.
This role will serve as a key project leader responsible for managing complex technology initiatives while also providing hands-on mentorship and guidance to a junior project coordinator transitioning into a project management role.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented leader who can successfully balance strategic project oversight with day-to-day execution. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and leadership to drive successful delivery while helping establish strong project management practices across the organization.
The successful candidate will bring strong enterprise application experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to take ownership of projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management Leadership & Delivery
- Lead enterprise technology projects through the full project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and project closeout.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, and resource allocation.
- Create and maintain project plans, action item trackers, risk logs, decision logs, status reports, and executive communications.
- Coordinate resources across IT, business teams, vendors, and shared service groups to ensure successful execution.
- Identify project roadblocks, drive resolution, and proactively communicate impacts to stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement of project management processes, standards, and methodologies.
Oracle Application Testing & Automation
- Lead project activities supporting Oracle enterprise application testing initiatives.
- Partner with Oracle application teams, business users, and vendors to improve testing efficiency and reduce manual testing challenges.
- Support implementation and adoption of automated testing solutions.
- Coordinate test strategy development, test script reviews, regression testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and business readiness activities.
- Assist in establishing processes for maintaining automated test repositories and testing documentation.
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to identify opportunities to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency across Oracle applications.
Project Coordinator Mentorship & Team Development
- Provide daily guidance, coaching, and mentorship to a junior project coordinator transitioning into a project management role.
- Teach project management best practices including:
- Task management
- Meeting facilitation
- Status reporting
- Risk and issue tracking
- UAT coordination
- Documentation standards
- Stakeholder communication
- Help develop the coordinator’s ability to support business teams, vendors, and project delivery activities.
- Serve as a role model for organized, proactive, and accountable project execution.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and leadership.
- Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and recommendations clearly to executive-level stakeholders.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure project deliverables meet expectations.
- Facilitate collaboration between technical teams and business users to ensure solutions align with business objectives.
Financial & Resource Management
- Support project financial activities including budget tracking, forecasting, purchase orders, and monthly/quarterly reviews.
- Monitor resource utilization and resolve conflicts involving competing priorities.
- Track project performance and provide leadership with accurate reporting and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience managing complex IT projects.
- Proven experience leading enterprise application implementations, upgrades, or technology transformation initiatives.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams involving business users, technical teams, and external vendors.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies including Waterfall and Agile.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, or developing junior project resources.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience supporting Oracle enterprise applications such as:
- Oracle ERP
- Oracle HCM
- Finance
- Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)
- Procurement
- Inventory
- Experience with test automation platforms such as:
- Opkey
- Oracle Test Automation
- Similar enterprise testing solutions
- Experience with software testing methodologies, UAT coordination, and regression testing.
- Experience with project management tools including:
- Microsoft Project
- Azure DevOps / TFS
- Monday.com
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Visio

This person should be comfortable wearing two hats:
- Senior IT Project Manager – driving Oracle application testing initiatives, managing vendors, coordinating resources, and delivering results.
- Project Mentor/Coach – developing a junior coordinator into a capable project management resource through daily guidance and structured mentoring.
Candidates should have a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and the ability to keep projects moving forward despite competing priorities.
