About Outlier
Outlier is a consumer-first sports data and betting insights platform. We combine powerful analytics, engaging content, and intuitive design to help bettors make smarter decisions. As we scale, we are expanding the engineering team that builds and accelerates our mobile products.
Role Overview
We are hiring an iOS Engineer to build and evolve the mobile experiences behind Outlier and React Live. You will turn complex, fast-changing sports data into responsive and intuitive products used by real customers.
You will work in a UIKit-first codebase while using SwiftUI where it makes sense, including data visualization and isolated components. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning features from product requirements through App Store-ready implementation and who cares equally about architecture, performance, reliability, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain iOS features across Outlier’s consumer mobile products.
Transform real-time odds, scores, statistics, play-by-play, injuries, and player data into clear and responsive user experiences.
Develop programmatic UIKit interfaces using collection views, compositional layouts, diffable data sources, and reusable components.
Build SwiftUI components and data visualizations where they provide a meaningful advantage.
Own application state and feature architecture using MVVM, RxSwift, and Swift concurrency.
Improve application performance, accessibility, crash resilience, observability, and release confidence.
Collaborate directly with product, design, backend engineering, and company leadership to shape and ship high-impact features.
Help evolve shared packages, engineering conventions, testing practices, and development workflows.
Use AI-powered tools and automation thoughtfully to improve engineering productivity and product capabilities.
Desired Experience and Attributes
Must-have qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional iOS engineering experience building production applications.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and UIKit.
- Experience building programmatic interfaces, navigation flows, and collection-heavy screens.
- A solid understanding of mobile architecture, state management, and reusable component design.
- Experience integrating REST APIs and working with asynchronous or real-time data.
- Practical knowledge of Swift concurrency, debugging, performance profiling, and application lifecycle behavior.
- Strong communication skills and an ownership mindset.
- Attention to product quality, interaction details, reliability, and accessibility.
- Good judgment when using AI-assisted development tools.
Nice-to-have qualifications:
- Experience with SwiftUI, Swift Charts, animation, or other data visualization work.
- Familiarity with RxSwift, RxCocoa, or comparable reactive programming patterns.
- Experience working in a UIKit and SwiftUI hybrid codebase.
- Experience with Swift Package Manager and modular application architecture.
- Familiarity with AWS Amplify, Cognito, Ably, RevenueCat, Sentry, Mixpanel, Braze, or similar services.
- Experience implementing subscriptions, push notifications, universal links, attribution, and analytics.
- Experience with App Store releases, CI/CD, automated testing, and performance monitoring.
- A background in sports, betting, gaming, fintech, or another real-time, data-intensive product.
What You’ll Get
- Competitive salary with great benefits
- The opportunity to turn a deep sports dataset into polished mobile experiences that help users make better decisions.
- Meaningful ownership across product development, mobile architecture, and engineering standards.
- Direct collaboration with product and company leadership on features that ship quickly and reach real users.
- The chance to solve challenging problems involving real-time data, complex state, visualization, and consumer UX.
- A small, experienced engineering team that values technical excellence, speed, thoughtful tradeoffs, and continuous improvement.
