About the job

About Osmos

We're not building robots for robotics engineers. We're building robots for everyone else.

Neuralzome builds general-purpose semi-humanoid robots and OsmoPilot, the software platform that operates them. OsmoPilot makes a robot teachable by demonstration — human-in-the-loop teleoperation, demo recording, and trajectory replay — so an operator can train a machine to do real work without writing a line of code. Our mission is to make teaching, deploying, and managing robots so intuitive that any business can adopt automation without specialized expertise.

Semi-humanoid platforms pair human-like arms and manipulators with a mobile base, so a single machine can take on work that was designed around human bodies and human workspaces. We build for industries where the work is unstructured and the environment was never designed for automation: agriculture, logistics, hospitality, and facility operations.

We're a small team based in Mountain View, building technology that many people believe is still years away.

About the Role

You'll be one of the first dedicated mechatronics hires on the founding team, reporting directly to the CEO, COO, and CTO. You'll own the mechanical and electrical integration of our semi-humanoid robots — the arm and joint assemblies, actuators, wiring, harnessing, and fabrication work that turns a prototype into a machine that runs reliably in the field for a full day.

This is a build-it-yourself seat, not a spec-writing one. You'll take ideas from concept through deployment, work directly with customers, and see your work come alive on real robots. Within your first year, your fingerprints will be on every robot we ship.

What You'll Do

  • Own mechanical and electrical integration across our semi-humanoid platforms — arms, end effectors, actuators, sensors, and mobile bases — from bench prototype to field-ready hardware
  • Build, test, and iterate on joint and actuator assemblies, including gearing, transmissions, mounts, and load paths
  • Design, build, and test wiring harnesses and interconnects for articulated, high-DOF systems where routing has to survive continuous motion
  • Run systems-level testing across the full mechatronic stack, diagnosing failures that cross mechanical, electrical, and firmware boundaries
  • Produce fabricated and 3D-printed parts and fixtures to support rapid iteration and field repair
  • Operate and maintain shop equipment for metal fabrication (cutting, machining, welding as needed)
  • Work alongside the autonomy and teleoperation teams to resolve integration issues surfaced during testing and deployment
  • Document build standards and test procedures so integration work scales as the team grows

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience integrating mechanical and electrical systems in robotics, automotive, or hardware startups
  • Experience with wiring harness design and fabrication, including connector selection and cable management in moving assemblies
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) for parts design and drawings
  • Comfort operating machine shop tools and metal fabrication equipment
  • Experience with 3D printing workflows for prototyping and fixtures
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts across mechanical, electrical, and firmware layers
  • Willingness to work on-site in Mountain View, with occasional travel to field deployment sites

Preferred

  • Experience building robotic arms, manipulators, or humanoid / semi-humanoid platforms
  • Familiarity with high-DOF systems, joint modules, and robotic transmissions
  • Familiarity with sensor and actuator interfacing (motors, encoders, IMUs, force/torque sensors)
  • Basic embedded and firmware literacy (reading schematics, flashing firmware, basic debugging)
  • Experience supporting field-deployed robotic systems outside lab conditions

How We Work

  • Strong ownership. Every engineer is trusted to take an idea from concept through deployment.
  • No rigid boundaries between disciplines. Our best ideas come from hardware and software people working shoulder to shoulder.
  • Curiosity, craftsmanship, and rapid iteration. We prototype quickly, validate in the real world, and improve on what we learn.
  • Engineering excellence and practical impact. We care about both, and we don't trade one away for the other.
  • Genuinely multidisciplinary work. AI, robotics, mechanical engineering, electronics, computer vision, embedded systems, cloud infrastructure, and product design all meet on the same machine.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $120,000–$200,000, depending on experience
  • Meaningful equity — every team member shares in the long-term success of the company
  • Comprehensive healthcare, including medical, dental, and vision coverage for eligible employees
  • On-site in Mountain View, with occasional travel to field deployment sites

If you enjoy tackling ambitious technical challenges, working across the full robotics stack, and building products that redefine how robots are deployed and adopted, you'll feel at home here.
