About the job

About Cubby

Cubby is the modern property management platform built for self-storage — and one of the most promising vertical technology companies in America. We recently closed a $63M Series A from Goldman Sachs and are scaling rapidly.

Self-storage is a $50B industry and the fastest-growing commercial real estate asset class. Our platform handles everything from payment processing to revenue management for self-storage operators across the country, and we're just getting started. We currently serve over 400 operators with over 500k units under management.

We're a small, high-velocity team that punches way above its weight. If you want to build something meaningful at a company where your work is felt immediately, this is the role.

The Role

This is not your traditional events role. We're not hiring someone to order booth carpet, scan badges, and drop the post-show recap into a folder nobody opens.

Cubby's growth runs on events. Trade shows are how this market finds us, sizes us up, and decides we're the team they want running their business. When an operator walks the floor at a major show, we want them to leave knowing exactly who Cubby is — and wanting to switch. That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone owned every inch of it.

That someone is you. You'll own the entire events machine — from the 1,000+ attendee flagship shows with major booth presences, convention-wide sponsorships, and the happy hour everyone talks about the next morning, all the way down to the 40–50 regional shows we run every year. Some have 20 people in the room. Some have 2,000. All of them need someone who is completely on top of them.

Here's what makes this role different: three jobs live inside it at once. There's the logistics — the unglamorous, mission-critical machine of dates, reps, collateral, shipping, and vendors that has to run flawlessly every single time. There's the revenue — turning a stack of badge scans into real pipeline, and making sure it actually gets worked. And there's the creative — figuring out how we make people not just know Cubby but love Cubby, and inventing entirely new ways to get in front of our market. Most people are good at one of these. We want someone dangerous at all three.

The through-line is simple: squeeze every dollar of brand awareness and revenue out of every event we do, and never let a ball drop.

What You'll Own

  • Flagship Show Execution: Own our biggest shows end to end — 1,000+ attendees, major booth builds, convention sponsorships, sponsored happy hours, the works. You're coordinating sales reps and their schedules, pulling collateral from the content team on deadline, riding the booth vendor to make sure install happens right and on time, and managing the hundred small things that turn into a disaster if nobody's watching. When the doors open, everything just works — because you made it work.

  • The Regional Show Machine: We run 40–50 regional shows a year, and every one matters. You'll build the system that keeps all of them on track without drowning — right-sizing effort so a 20-person regional gets what it needs and a 2,000-person one gets the full treatment. Nothing slips through the cracks. Ever.

  • The Revenue Loop: An event that doesn't turn into pipeline was a party, not a program. You'll own what happens after the badge scan — names cleaned up, lists uploaded correctly, leads routed to the right reps, and reps chased relentlessly until the follow-up actually happens. You are the reason event spend shows up as revenue, and you'll have the numbers to prove it.

  • Brand & Experience: This is where you get to be creative. How do we make the most out of every event? What makes someone stop at our booth instead of walking past? What do they tell their colleague about on the flight home? You'll obsess over how Cubby shows up — booth, signage, swag, the sponsored happy hour, the moment-to-moment experience — so that people leave conferences knowing and genuinely loving this company.

  • New Formats & Experimentation: Trade shows are the foundation, not the ceiling. Should we be running enterprise dinners in key cities? User workshops and meetups? Something nobody in this industry has tried yet? We don't know — and we want you to figure it out. You'll test new in-person plays, kill the ones that don't work, and scale the ones that do.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: You sit at the center of Sales, Marketing, and Content. You're the connective tissue that gets reps where they need to be, collateral where it needs to go, and everyone rowing in the same direction around a shared calendar. When these teams run smoothly around events, it's because you're making them.

What We're Looking For

  • A relentless, high-motor operator who treats a dropped ball as a personal insult. You move fast, you follow up harder than anyone expects, and you do not slow down. The scale of this program — dozens of shows a year across the country — would break most people. You run at it.

  • Serious logistical firepower. You can hold fifty moving pieces in your head at once, and you've got the systems and instincts to make sure dates, shipments, vendors, and people all land exactly when they need to. You've shipped complex, deadline-driven events before and made them look easy.

  • A creative eye for brand and experience. You're not just executing — you have opinions about what makes an event land, and you can turn "make people love Cubby" into real, tangible decisions.

  • Sales-adjacent instincts and zero shyness about accountability. You're comfortable riding a sales team until the follow-up is done, and you understand that the whole point is pipeline and revenue, not vanity metrics.

  • Strong cross-functional instincts. You'll work across Sales, Marketing, and Content daily and see yourself as the person who makes the whole thing run — not a back-office function.

  • An entrepreneurial streak. Give you a blank space — "should we do dinners?" — and you'll come back with a plan, a test, and a result. You'd rather build the new thing than wait for someone to hand you a playbook.

  • Comfort with ambiguity, speed, and travel. This is a build-stage company and an on-the-road role. Processes will be incomplete, priorities will shift, and you'll spend real time in airports and on show floors. You thrive in that rather than waiting for it to stabilize.

Why Cubby

Real executive partnership: You'll sit at the table with Sales and Marketing leadership, not in a silo.
Backed by Goldman Sachs with the resources to invest in growth.
Events are core, not an afterthought: This program drives the business, and you'll own it. Your work shows up in the pipeline immediately.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus.
Equity in a high-growth company backed by Goldman Sachs.

This is a contract-to-hire role. The contract will be 3 months and we are hoping to hire this person full-time after.
