iVision Consulting is seeking an IT Technician to support the Annapolis Police Department. This position is responsible for system administration and maintenance, hardware and software support, mobile and field support, helpdesk and user support, and network and security support.
This position is required to be onsite at the Annapolis (Maryland) Police Department (199 Taylor Avenue in Annapolis, MD). Candidates must be available for rotating 24/7 on call support.
What You Will Do:
- System Administration & Maintenance
- Maintain and support Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management Systems (RMS).
- Manage and maintain Active Directory accounts, including auditing and access control.
- Perform system audits across platforms, including LinX and AD.
Ensure high availability and reliability of RMS and NCIC access.
Scripting & Automation
Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Python to streamline IT processes and tasks.
Hardware & Software Support
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and peripherals.
Diagnose and repair hardware issues (e.g., RAM, HDD replacements).
Deploy and manage operating systems (Windows) and enterprise software (Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
Support and manage endpoint devices and software across the agency.
Mobile & Field Support
Maintain and troubleshoot in-car computers, cradlepoints, onboard SIMs, and mobile hotspots.
Support mobile technology used in the field, including tablets/phone and ruggedized laptops for officers.
Helpdesk & User Support
Resolve IT support tickets including password resets and login issues across platforms via phone, chat, or in-person.
Provide user training on technology tools and best practices.
Update and maintain internal knowledge base and technical documentation.
Network & Security
Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
Assist in brainstorming and implementing cybersecurity initiatives and protocols.
Apply and enforce security standards based on NIST frameworks (NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171).
Ensure compliance with CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) security policies for data access and encryption.
Project Support & Collaboration
Assist the IT Manager in ongoing and upcoming technology projects.
Coordinate with vendors for procurement, support, and service-level agreements.
Liaise with state and federal agencies (e.g., FBI, State Police) regarding joint IT systems and shared platforms.
Availability & Response
Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating weekly schedule, particularly for critical dispatch and emergency systems.
What You Need:
- 2-5 years IT helpdesk and support experience
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- CJIS Security Policy Training (mandatory for law enforcement IT staff)
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Security+
Salary:
$45,000 - $55,000
