Software Engineer

About Us
Intake AI is building the agentic intelligence layer for clinical trials. Our platform provides clinical research sites with a unified, queryable data source, and we deploy agents to automate some of their most tedious data workflows. These include data transfers, query resolution, document creation, and data security/warehousing.

The Role
We're hiring a mid-level Software Engineer to help us build and ship the core product. You'll work closely with our CTO and engineering team and take ownership of features end to end, from architecture through deployment. This is a high-autonomy role for someone who wants to build in a startup environment, not just execute tickets.

In this role, you will:

• Build and ship features across our full stack: Python/FastAPI on the backend, Next.js/TypeScript on the frontend
• Design and maintain HIPAA and SOC2- Compliant infrastructure on AWS (ECS Fargate, S3, CloudWatch)
• Work hands-on with LLM-powered features using OpenAI API and related AI/ML tooling
• Own your code through CI/CD, from PR to production, using our GitHub-based workflows
• Collaborate closely with our CTO and the rest of the team to solve broad technical challenges as we scale

Experience

• 3+ years of professional software/ML engineering experience, ideally in an early stage startup environment
• Comfortable across the stack: Python and TypeScript/React (or similar) in production
• Experience building with or around LLMs in a production setting
• Experience with RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) and deployment of embedding models/fine-tuning
• Experience with AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure
• Bonus: exposure to compliance-sensitive or security-conscious environments
