Job Description:

The Assistant Product Manager (APM) supports the product team in the development and execution of new products within the cooler and hydration categories across various retail and catalog channels. Reporting to the Product Manager (PM) and Category Leader, this role focuses on growing and maintaining private label business from concept to execution as well as supporting the execution tasks of national brand development.

The position serves as a bridge between internal teams, such as Graphic Design, Brand, and Business Development, and external stakeholders, including retailers and factories. The APM ensures projects are completed on time and to the highest standard. The successful candidate will be a detail oriented and organized self-starter and resourceful “figure it out'er”. They can take feedback, adapt quickly, and are comfortable with keeping multiple projects moving forward simultaneously.

Role includes opportunity for domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently own strategic development of certain retailer programs with the support of the PM to ensure success (level of ownership based on candidate experience).
  • Collaborate with international factories to address development needs, negotiate costing, and manage timelines.
  • Research existing market conditions and conduct feasibility studies to determine market demand for existing and new products.
  • Actively support/lead product presentations to key customers.
  • Support PM in development of national brand product through collaboration with design team and factory communication.
  • Product Setup and Content Coordination
  • Manage product setup and content updates for both brick-and-mortar retail and e-commerce channels.
  • Coordinate the creation and review of imagery, feature callouts, and compliance labels.
  • Coordinate packaging workflows with Graphic Design and Brand teams, including translations, layout reviews, and approvals.

Project Execution and Process Improvement

  • Monitor and manage SKUs to ensure new and existing products meet business goals.
  • Confirm readiness for both in-store and online sales through accurate setup and content optimization.
  • Work with factories to address production needs and resolve packaging or compliance challenges.

Product Sample Management:

  • Coordinate sample shipments from factories to internal teams and buyers.
  • Label and organize product samples in the warehouse.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of available product samples.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must be extremely organized and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Must be proactive, work quickly, and possess the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • High degree of flexibility, initiative, and drive to see projects through to completion.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with diverse teams and presenting to customers and leadership
  • Self-motivated with ability to stay on task without supervision.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and effectively communicate to relevant parties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with content management systems is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience/knowledge with textiles, sewing, and/or manufacturing preferred
  • Previous retail experience or work with consumer goods
  • 2+ years of experience in product or category management / support.
  • Knowledge of retail or e-commerce operations, including large key retailers.
  • Experience with Adobe tools or project management software (preferred but not required).
  • Background in project coordination or packaging (internships count).
