Location: Fully Remote
bluepina is building the home for boutique hotels, surf camps, and retreats: a booking platform that helps independent hosts reach travelers directly instead of giving up their margins to the big booking sites. We're a small, remote-first team based in Vancouver, at the very beginning of building something we care about deeply. You would be one of our first engineers.
The role
You'll own features end to end: talk to hosts and travelers, scope the work, design the system, ship it, and watch bookings come through it the same week. No product managers translating for you, no layers of process, no tickets falling from above. If you've spent years at a big company wishing you could just build the thing, this is the opposite of that.
What you'll do
- Ship product weekly across the whole stack: React/TypeScript frontend, Node backend, Postgres, AWS
- Build the core of a booking platform: search and discovery, availability and calendars, checkout and payments (Stripe), host dashboards
- Talk directly to hosts (surf camp owners, retreat operators, boutique hoteliers) and decide what to build next with the founders
- Set the engineering culture: you're early enough that your defaults become the company's defaults
You probably
- Have 4+ years building web products, with real time at startups (or your own)
- Are senior or staff level as an IC and want to stay hands-on
- Are strong in TypeScript and comfortable anywhere in the stack; Postgres and payments code feel like home
- Care that independent businesses keep what they earn, and like the idea of your users being surf camps
- Get energy from ambiguity and 0-to-1 work
Compensation and logistics
Fully remote within at least 3 hours overlap with ET timezone (US, Canada, Europe OK)
Unlimited PTO with a min of 20 days

Intro call, then a technical conversation about something you've built, then a paid half-day work sample on our real codebase, then an offer. We can move quickly.
