About the Role

We are seeking fluent Korean-English Medical Interpreters to provide high-quality interpretation services for healthcare professionals and Korean-speaking patients.

As a Korean Consecutive Medical Interpreter, you will facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate communication during medical consultations via Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI).

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced interpreters who are passionate about language access and helping patients receive quality healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately interpret conversations between Korean-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare providers.
• Interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and healthcare instructions.
• Provide cultural clarification when appropriate to improve communication and patient understanding.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with professional interpreter ethics.
• Document interpretation sessions accurately, including date, time, duration, and service type.
• Continuously improve your knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

• Fluent in both Korean and English (spoken and written).
• Previous experience in medical interpretation or medical translation.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare-related conversations.
• Excellent listening, communication, and consecutive interpretation skills.
• Professional demeanor with strong cultural awareness and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced remote environment.

Technical Requirements (Mandatory)

Applicants must have:

• Stable internet connection with at least 15 Mbps download and upload speed

• PC or laptop with:

  • 5th Generation Intel processor (or equivalent) or newer
  • Minimum 8 GB RAM

• Wired LAN (Ethernet) internet connection

• USB headset

• HD webcam

• Quiet, professional workspace suitable for confidential medical interpretation

Compensation & Benefits

• $12 USD per hour
• Monthly payments via Payoneer
• Attendance and Quality Assurance (QA) performance incentives
• Paid training (50% of the agreed hourly rate), subject to successful completion of training and onboarding requirements

Training & Onboarding

Successful candidates will complete:

• Mandatory 80-hour training program over 10 business days
• Final language assessment
• Platform orientation and IT onboarding
• Training schedule will be shared before the start date

Please note: Training payment is released once the interpreter successfully completes the assessment and begins active work.

Important Information

• This is an Independent Contractor position.
• Interpretation services will be provided through both Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI).
• Shift schedules are assigned based on the Eastern Standard Time (EST) time zone.
• No leave is permitted during the first month of engagement except for emergencies with prior approval.
