Sr. Data Engineer

Location: 3800 Quick Hill Road Austin, TX 78728 (3 days onsite)

Client: McLane

MOI: 2 rounds virtual, final interview onsite

Intro Summary

We re seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer who thrives on solving complex data challenges and building scalable, enterprise grade solutions. This role is ideal for a detail oriented, analytical professional with deep SQL expertise and experience supporting data warehouses, analytics platforms, and batch processing environments.

What You Ll Do

• Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL workflows across DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server
• Support and enhance enterprise Data Warehouse architectures, including dimensional modeling and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Develop and maintain Linux shell scripts for automation and batch scheduling
• Work with Mainframe datasets and utilities to extract and integrate data
• Build and support datasets and data models for IBM Cognos Analytics reporting
• Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver high quality data solutions
• Troubleshoot data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, and system failures

What We Re Looking For

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Advanced SQL expertise across DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server
• Strong knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts (ETL, dimensional modeling, data marts, OLAP)
• Proficiency with Linux shell scripting (bash, ksh, etc.)
• Experience with Mainframe systems (JCL, datasets, utilities)
• Hands on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics or similar BI tools
