Do Cutting-Edge AI/ML Work Where You Love to Live: Hanover, NH

Creare is expanding our team in Hanover, NH. We are looking for engineers with strong technical fundamentals and a drive to solve hard problems using advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. At Creare, you will dive into a diverse array of cutting-edge research and software development projects, applying ML to real-world engineering challenges.

Why this opportunity stands out:

  • Cutting-Edge AI/ML: Move beyond basic data pipelines to solve novel, complex engineering problems using advanced ML methodologies.

  • The Hanover Hub: Work in a vibrant college town known for innovation, community, and intellectual energy.

  • The Upper Valley Lifestyle: Trade the big-city commute for hiking, skiing, local farm-to-table dining, and the unmatched natural beauty of New Hampshire and Vermont.

As an R&D engineer at Creare, you will contribute to multiple small cross-disciplinary teams working on a variety of R&D projects. A week in the life of a Creare R&D ML engineer might involve: deploying and testing state-of-the-art foundational ML models on custom data; integrating ML-based machine vision algorithms for 3-D reconstruction; selecting an ML architecture based on deep knowledge of ML technology and the state-of-the-art to solve a specific problem; creating and cleaning a dataset for training an ML model; batching multiple training runs for an ML model; assessing ML model accuracy and robustness; supporting general software development; and providing technical leadership to project teams via informal discussions and code reviews. The consistent themes in this diverse workload are high caliber application of ML principles and best practices, and skilled technical leadership.

AI/ML engineers at Creare:

• Apply mathematical and engineering principles and software development best practices.

• Develop ML algorithms and design architectures for data collection, data processing, control systems, and physics-based modeling.

• Develop innovative, high-quality ML models using modern tools in a fast-paced environment.

• Respond to project/client engineering needs using agile/test driven development practices.

• Learn and apply new technologies on a regular basis.

• Support multiple projects for our clients in the Government and private sector

• Develop products and technologies using ML in diverse areas such as engineering simulations, 3-D reconstruction, physics modeling, biomedical devices, as well as test and measurement systems.

• Assist and provide guidance on using LLM based AI tools

Professional Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in an R&D environment.

• Expertise with at least one major ML training platform (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX/Haiku) and some of the following: Linux, Python, C/C++, OpenCV, MLOps, DevSecOps (Docker, CI/CD, Fortify/SonarQube, server administration), configuration or use of hardware accelerators (GPUs, TPUs, edge device coprocessors), development of firmware and software for embedded processors, cloud computing, high-performance computing (HPC), computationally-efficient algorithm development, use and implementation of LLM AI tools in strict data protection environments.

• Ability to understand and implement data analyses, including signal and image processing algorithms.

• Proven ability and desire to work on multiple, deadline-driven projects concurrently.

• Effective project management and communication skills.

• 3+ years of experience in AI/ML research and applied development

• Experience on developing and deploying ML models for perception, robotic or related fields

• Strong background in deep neural networks with practical experience

• MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience required.

Compensation:

Creare offers a competitive compensation package, including but not limited to a substantial annual staff bonus, industry-leading 401(k) contributions and plan options, and a range of medical plan offerings. Mutual respect, teamwork, and the ability to do the highest quality work define our staff and work environment. Base annual salary range of $95,000 - $160,000 based on level of education completed, and years of relevant experience.
