AI Technical Lead

The Verse is seeking an AI Technical Lead to lead the technical direction of WellVerse AI, our AI-powered video game platform that helps users improve wellbeing and emotional resilience. WellVerse AI guides users through interactive gameplay activities, helping them navigate real-world challenges, build healthy habits, and support personal growth.

This position is ideal for someone who wants a role that blends engineering leadership, AI product management, and hands-on technical decision-making. You'll lead a team of AI engineers, define the technical roadmap, and help turn cutting-edge AI research into products that make a real-world impact.

What You'll Do

• Lead a team of AI engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and day-to-day leadership.
• Shape the product roadmap and help prioritize features based on technical feasibility, user value, and business goals.
• Own the technical vision for WellVerse AI, defining the architecture and long-term direction of our agentic AI platform.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for WellVerse AI, answering technical questions and helping unblock the engineering team.
• Assign work based on team members' strengths, interests, and development goals.
• Conduct thorough, high-quality code reviews with exceptional attention to detail to maintain engineering excellence.
• Guide the design and implementation of AI systems, including multi-agent architectures, memory systems, RAG pipelines, evaluation frameworks, and safety guardrails.

Who You Are

• Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a Master's/PhD program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
• Or - current industry experience in tech fields: CS, AI, EECS, or ME that translates to AI engineer.
• Strong software engineering background with experience building AI or LLM-powered applications.
• Deep understanding of modern AI systems, including agentic workflows, orchestration frameworks, RAG, memory architectures, and AI evaluation.
• Passionate about both engineering and product management.
• A natural leader who enjoys mentoring engineers, coordinating technical work, and helping teams succeed.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience leading technical projects or coordinating engineering teams.
