Job Title - Utility Sales Associate
Location: Remote (Up to 75 % Travel)
Regions Hiring: East Coast & West Coast
Reports To: Regional Sales Leader
Compensation: $60,000 base salary with an uncapped commission offering unlimited earning potential tied to bookings, margins, and new account development
About the Role
Virginia – Georgia Transformer Corporation, the largest U.S.-owned manufacturer of power transformers, is seeking high-energy Utility Sales Associate to support the Investment owned Utility and Public Power Utility Sales Team.
We want proven sales professionals with strong Sales Skills, customer Service skills, Organizational Skills to handle 75% travel to win business. The ideal candidate is a hunter who Is not afraid of meeting customers face-to-face and driving growth in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Execution
- Drive growth in assigned region by selling distribution and power transformers to Investor-Owned Utilities, Public Power, Co-ops, and EPCs.
- Generate new inquiries, follow up on quotes, secure orders, and achieve assigned booking and margin goals.
- Travel (up to 75%) to visit utilities, engineering firms, channel partners, and key accounts.
- Identify and develop new accounts and emerging market opportunities.
- Strengthen existing relationships through regular onsite visits, follow-up, and responsiveness.
Pipeline & Territory Management
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of inquiries and opportunities across assigned territory.
- Track leads, quotes, and close rates; adjust strategy to improve hit rate and increase bookings.
- Work with internal Application Engineers to ensure accurate and timely quotations.
- Support channel partners, manufacturers’ reps, EPCs, and distributors to help them achieve their sales targets.
Customer Engagement
- Conduct customer visits, lunch-and-learns, product presentations, and training.
- Understand customer needs, project requirements, and competitive positioning.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms on major opportunities with support from leadership.
- Partner with Project Management to ensure customers stay informed during order execution.
Market Intelligence & Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitive landscape, utility programs, and regional opportunities.
- Provide accurate CRM input, sales forecasts, and market updates.
- Work with Marketing to refine sales collateral and value proposition messaging.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of sales experience, preferably in industrial, utility, energy, construction, or B2B field sales.
- Strong relationship-building skills, drive, personality, and competitive spirit.
- Up to 75% travel across assigned region.
- Proficiency in Excel and CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to make cold calls and develop new accounts.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Experience selling into utilities, EPCs, or industrial accounts.
- Experience with electrical equipment, capital equipment, or field service solutions (not required but helpful).
- Prior success in a high-bonus, performance-based compensation structure.
Territory
- East Coast or West Coast
- Sales to Investor-Owned Utilities, Public Power, Municipalities, Co-ops, and EPC firms.
- Remote role with extensive field travel.
