Occasional travel to our warehouses in Passaic, NJ
The Mission
The Many Company is a venture-backed startup solving the apparel industry's greatest challenge: overstock. We build the circular technology that allows global brands to turn waste into a profit center. We are looking for a developer who wants to own the infrastructure that makes a sustainable retail economy possible.
The Challenge
As our lead backend-focused developer, you will be the architect of our core systems. You will not just write code — you will design the data pipelines and GraphQL APIs that sync mission-critical data across Shopify, Airtable, and our proprietary warehouse logistics. This is a high-impact role where your technical decisions directly dictate our ability to scale.
Core Tech Stack
- Runtime: Deno, TypeScript
- Data: PostgreSQL (Supabase), Drizzle ORM
- Frameworks: Hono, Retool
- Integrations: Shopify Admin GraphQL, Airtable REST, Shippo, Fly.io
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years building and scaling complex backend systems
- Database Engineering: Mastery of PostgreSQL — schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization using Drizzle or similar type-safe ORMs
- Modern Tooling: Strong TypeScript proficiency; Node.js experts ready to transition to Deno are welcome
- System Integration: Proven track record building robust integrations with Shopify or REST/GraphQL APIs
- DevOps Mindset: Experience managing production deployments on Fly.io, Supabase, or equivalent cloud infrastructure
Key Responsibilities
- Architect Backend Systems — Build and maintain the PostgreSQL databases and GraphQL APIs powering our entire eCommerce ecosystem
- Build Critical Pipelines — Develop high-reliability connectors for Shopify and major third-party marketplaces including Poshmark and eBay
- Pipeline Management — Manage the full deployment pipeline; ensure production systems are monitored, performant, and secure
- Enable the Business — Create sophisticated internal tools in Retool and custom Shopify app flows to streamline operations
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $90,000 – $120,000, plus equity in an early-stage, venture-backed company
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
- PTO, Sick, and Bereavement leave
