As a Forward Deployed QA Engineer, you will serve as the frontline champion for product quality, operational responsiveness, and backend stability. You will own end-to-end Quality Assurance to guarantee flawless product releases, act as a rapid responder for field bugs and client assistance requests, and actively contribute to backend development to help patch issues and deliver features.
What You’ll Do
- Quality Assurance & System Testing (Primary Focus) Drive Quality Standards: Design, maintain, and execute comprehensive manual and automated test strategies across web, mobile, and backend services.
API & Data Validation: Perform deep API testing, payload verification, and performance/stress testing on backend endpoints built with Node.js and Express.
Data & Telemetry Verification: Ensure MongoDB schemas, analytics data, and real-time telemetry processing yield precise, bug-free results for our sports tech engine.
- Forward-Deployed Incident Triage & Field Support Rapid Issue Response: Act as the direct technical responder for incoming bug reports, field escalations, and client assistance requests.
Root-Cause Analysis: Reproduce user-reported issues, isolate root causes across server logs, APIs, and cloud infrastructure, and prioritize fixes.
Cross-Functional Bridge: Work closely with customer success, operations, and core engineering to communicate technical fixes and client updates smoothly.
- Backend Engineering & Bug Fixing Code Contributions: Write and submit production-ready code (Node.js/Express) to fix identified bugs, improve API endpoints, and assist with smaller feature developments.
Observability & Logging: Help optimize production logging and error tracking on AWS infrastructure to prevent bugs before they reach end users.
Must-Have Qualifications
2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance, API testing, or forward-deployed technical engineering.
Working knowledge of Node.js and Express with the ability to read backend code, debug logic, and contribute code fixes directly.
Strong API testing skills (Postman, REST APIs) along with practical experience querying and validating MongoDB data.
Hands-on debugging skills with production server environments, operational logs, and AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch).
Proven triage capability: Experience working under pressure to rapidly diagnose, isolate, and resolve live bugs or user-reported issues.
Strong communication skills: Ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders and act fast in a high-velocity startup setting.
Good to Have
Automation Frameworks: Experience building automated test pipelines (e.g., Jest, Supertest, Cypress, or Appium).
CI/CD & Observability: Familiarity with GitHub Actions/CI pipelines and monitoring tools (Datadog, Posthog).
Messaging & Real-time Systems: Exposure to WebSockets, RabbitMQ, or real-time data streaming architectures.
Infrastructure & CDN: Basic experience with Cloudflare and SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Domain Passion: Familiarity with sports analytics, real-time sports tracking, or a passion for cricket!
