ETL developer

Position: ETL Developer

Location: Hybrid (40% onsite) Baltimore, MD

Duration: 12+ Months Contract

We are seeking an experienced ETL Developer/Data Engineer with strong expertise in AWS cloud technologies, ETL development, and enterprise data platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building scalable data pipelines, optimizing data architectures, and supporting analytics and reporting initiatives in a cloud-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/data pipelines
• Build and optimize data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse architectures
• Develop data integration and transformation solutions using AWS services
• Create and maintain data quality, validation, and monitoring processes
• Optimize database performance and troubleshoot data processing issues
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements
• Implement secure and compliant data management practices
• Support CI/CD, deployment automation, and workflow orchestration
• Prepare technical documentation and mentor junior team members

Required Skills

• 5+ years of ETL/Data Engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL

• Experience with AWS services:

• AWS Glue

• S3

• Redshift

• RDS

• Athena

• DocumentDB

• Lake Formation

• Step Functions

• MWAA

• Experience with Apache Spark or distributed computing frameworks

• Strong understanding of data warehousing and relational databases

• Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB/OpenSearch/DocumentDB

• Experience with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines

• Knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures
• Healthcare or public sector experience is a plus
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Experience mentoring junior engineers

Education

Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
