The Opportunity
Most startups burn cash to find a market, at Symmetric, we've spent the last few years winning it. We've been profitable from Year 1, remain employee-owned and doubled in 2025 with line of sight to repeat that growth in 2026.
Our product is the data engine behind the world's most sophisticated healthcare systems — 17 of the Gartner Top 25 supply chains already rely on Symmetric. We provide cutting-edge solutions that streamline procurement, item master data management, and improve efficiency across healthcare systems.
We have a fully remote team that's making a big impact on the healthcare supply chain by working closely with enterprises (health systems, hospitals, consulting firms, etc.), regulatory agencies and industry groups.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Integrations to design, build, and operate the systems that connect Symmetric with our customers' ERPs and other core platforms. You will be the technical owner of how data flows in and out of customer environments — transforming and joining data across disparate systems, building tooling that automates manual processes, and striking the right balance between configurable, reusable patterns and targeted custom work for each client. This includes becoming an expert on one or more of healthcare's dominant ERP systems (Workday, Infor, and Oracle).
This is a high-impact individual contributor role for someone who enjoys solving the messy, real-world problems that come with enterprise integrations, partnering directly with customers and internal teams, and building durable tooling that scales across a growing book of business.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Integrations & ERP Connectivity
- Design, build, and maintain integrations between Symmetric and customer systems, with a primary focus on ERPs (Workday, Oracle, Infor) and other source systems relevant to the healthcare supply chain.
- Transform and join data across customer systems into the clean, reliable shapes our product and customers depend on.
- Partner with customers' technical teams and Symmetric's Product Team to scope integration requirements, troubleshoot data issues, and deliver robust, well-documented solutions.
Tooling & Automation
- Build internal tooling that automates repetitive implementation, onboarding, and support work — reducing time-to-value for new customers and operational load for existing ones.
- Identify opportunities to turn one-off custom work into configurable, reusable capabilities in the core platform.
- Balance configuration vs. custom code for each client, making pragmatic trade-offs between speed-to-delivery and long-term maintainability.
Platform & Reliability
- Own integration reliability end-to-end: monitoring, alerting, error handling, and reconciliation for the pipelines and services you build.
- Contribute to CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and developer tooling that support integration engineering workflows.
- Help evolve our integration architecture, patterns, and standards as our customer base grows.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with Product Management, Implementation, Customer Success, and Data Engineering to deliver integrations aligned with the product roadmap and customer commitments.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices around code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical planning sessions.
Qualifications
Required
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer, with meaningful time spent on customer-facing integrations, data integration, or backend systems that move data between platforms.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including performance tuning and writing complex transformations against large, messy datasets.
- Strong proficiency in Python for building integrations, transformations, and internal tooling.
- Comfort working directly with customers' technical teams and translating ambiguous requirements into reliable, maintainable software.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred
- Experience integrating with ERPs (Workday, Oracle, Infor, Meditech) or other enterprise source systems (APIs, flat files, event streams, database extracts).
- Experience with React and TypeScript for building internal tools and customer-facing configuration UIs.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, or similar) and modern CI/CD practices.
- Experience on AWS (S3, Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, RDS, or equivalent).
- Experience with healthcare IT, supply chain technology, or enterprise SaaS integrations.
- Familiarity with data quality, master data management, and reconciliation patterns.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
What Success Looks Like
- 30 days: Solid understanding of our integration architecture, key customer deployments, and the tooling our implementation and support teams rely on; built relationships with cross-functional partners in Engineering, Product, and Implementation.
- 60 days: Independently delivering integration improvements and new customer connections; contributing to code reviews and architectural discussions.
- 90 days: Shipped a meaningful integration or tooling improvement that measurably reduces implementation time, support load, or integration failures; established as a go-to technical resource for customer integrations.
- 1 year: Driven significant evolution of our integration platform and patterns; mentored teammates; played a key role in shaping the technical strategy for how Symmetric connects with customer systems.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses
- Comprehensive benefits: 100% covered health, dental, vision, 401K matching, and flex PTO
- Meaningful work with real-world impact on the healthcare supply chain
- Growth potential at a profitable, high-growth, founder-led startup
- Autonomy and ownership — we trust our team members to be the experts in their craft
- US-based remote with scheduled team in-person meetings
