About the job

Read this first: We're hiring our founding robotics simulation engineer. You will spend your days in Gazebo and Isaac Sim, writing C++ and Python against ROS2, validating SLAM and motion planning for drones and AMRs. If you haven't built simulation environments for physical robots, this role is not for you. Fullstack, web, mobile, and general ML backgrounds will not be considered, regardless of how strong.

About Grazen
Grazen is a stealth-mode robotics startup building the AI brain for warehouse operations. We deploy autonomous drones and AMRs across warehouses and distribution centers, eliminating manual counts, catching stock discrepancies in real time, and delivering audit-grade inventory intelligence every day. Hardware-agnostic, cloud-native, already in paid pilots. Join a hands-on founding team shaping the future of autonomy for industry.

The Role
You'll own Grazen's simulation and autonomy pipeline. Every drone and AMR that flies or drives at a customer site runs code you've validated in sim first. A counterpart founding engineer owns the warehouse-floor side: live deployments, customer-site bring-ups, field debugging. You own the playground they ship from, and the autonomy stack that runs on the fleet.

What You'll Do
Build and maintain sim environments in Gazebo and Isaac Sim that mirror real warehouses. Racking geometry, aisle widths, lighting, SKU density, clutter.
Procedurally generate warehouse variants for domain randomization. Different layouts, different rack heights, different lighting conditions, different drone and AMR models on the same stack.
Own the nav and planning stack: motion planning, behavior trees, obstacle avoidance, GPS-denied flight trajectories through multi-height racked aisles.
Replay field logs from customer deployments as regression tests. When something breaks at a customer site, your harness reproduces it in sim within the hour.
Generate synthetic training data for the ML team's perception models. Barcode views at odd angles, poor lighting, partial occlusion, damaged packaging.
Build the CI pipeline for autonomy. Every PR from the SF engineer runs against a sim suite before it touches a real drone.
Validate new drone and AMR hardware in sim before first field flight. New sensor payload, new compute module, new airframe: it flies in sim first.
Debug SLAM failures by replaying field data. Figure out what broke, fix it in the stack, validate the fix held across the full regression suite.

Technical Skills
Strong in C++ and Python (ROS2).
Hands-on with Gazebo, Isaac Sim/Isaac Gym, or equivalent robotics simulators.
Nav stacks, motion planning, SLAM. You've shipped autonomy code that ran on real hardware, not just in a paper.
Comfortable building reproducible test harnesses and CI pipelines for robotics code.
Synthetic data generation and domain randomization techniques for perception training.
Bonus: warehouse, inspection, or industrial drone/AMR background. Experience with sim-to-real transfer. RL frameworks (Stable Baselines3, Isaac Gym). Photorealistic rendering pipelines (Omniverse, Unreal).
GitHub or portfolio showing real-world robots you've shipped.

Who You Are
Systems thinker. You care that the sim matches reality tightly enough that the SF engineer trusts it.
Independent builder. Comfortable being the robotics anchor in India while working closely with the SF counterpart across timezones.
Strong communicator. You write clean issue reports, document your sim environments, and translate between the SF robotics engineer and the ML team without noise.
Prior startup, research, or small-team experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications
BS/MS/PhD in Robotics, CS, EE, or related.
4+ years hands-on robotics experience with deployed systems (drones or AMRs).
Based in Bengaluru or Hyderabad. This role is in-office. Not remote.

What Grazen Offers
Founding engineer seat with meaningful equity.
Early customer traction. Your sim work gates live customer deployments within your first 30 days.
Direct collaboration with the founding team and the SF robotics counterpart.
Opportunity to shape product and company DNA at the earliest stage.
