Backend Focused Fullstack Developer

We are a small, focused team building an industrial digital twin platform. A browser-based system that combines real-time IoT data, spatial models and AI into a single interface for managing complex facilities. We are looking for a backend-focused fullstack developer to work closely with the CEO and CTO and take ownership of our platform's backend architecture.

Technology-wise, we run a Node.js, Express, MongoDB and Redis core stack, with Neo4j, InfluxDB, Socket.IO and MQTT playing key roles as the platform grows. The frontend is React with a custom Three.js 3D visualization layer. You will build ingestion pipelines for factory-floor telemetry, graph models that let AI agents reason about physical spaces and pub/sub systems that push real-time sensor data to 3D browser visualizations.

What you will work on

• System architecture: Design backend services from scratch. Service boundaries, data flow, communication patterns and persistence strategies that hold up as we grow.
• Real-time data pipelines. Ingest and route high-frequency IoT sensor streams using MQTT and deliver live updates to clients over Socket.IO.
• Multi-database data modeling: Structure operational data in MongoDB, model facility and asset relationships in Neo4j, cache hot data in Redis and store time-series telemetry in InfluxDB, picking the right storage layer for each problem.
• API development: Build RESTful and real-time APIs that serve the frontend, support AI agent interactions and stay clean enough for future third-party integrations.
• Infrastructure. Containerize services, set up deployment pipelines and build in observability and fault tolerance early.
• Frontend collaboration: You are backend-first, but when the 3D frontend needs a new data format, a better WebSocket protocol or a query optimization, you work with the frontend team to get it right.

Required experience

• Node.js and Express: Solid production experience. You have built beyond basic CRUD: custom middleware, streaming, worker threads, memory profiling and performance tuning.
• MongoDB: Aggregation pipelines, thoughtful schema design (embedding vs referencing), indexing strategies and change streams.
• Redis: Used as more than a simple cache. Pub/Sub, sorted sets, TTL strategies and ideally Redis Streams.
• System design: You have architected at least one system from a blank slate, made the trade-offs and maintained it in production.
• 3+ years of production Node.js experience.

Good to have

• Neo4j: Modeling interconnected systems as graphs, writing Cypher queries and knowing when a graph database is the right fit.
• InfluxDB: Storing and querying high-cardinality time-series data, retention policies and downsampling.
• Socket.IO: Room-based broadcasting, namespace isolation, reconnection handling and scaling across instances with the Redis adapter.
• MQTT: QoS levels, topic hierarchies, retained messages and bridging broker data into your application layer.
• DevOps familiarity: Docker, CI/CD, logging and monitoring. Comfortable getting your own services deployed and observable.

The basics

• On-site in Bengaluru. This is not a remote role.
• Five full working days plus a half day on Saturday.
