Job Description

At Azenta, new ideas, new technologies and new ways of thinking are driving our future. Our customer-focused culture encourages employees to embrace innovation and challenge the status quo with novel thinking and collaborative work relationships.

Azenta Life Sciences is a global leader in the life sciences space with headquarters in Burlington, MA, and offices and operations worldwide. We are a market leader in automated bio sample management solutions and genomic services across areas such as drug development, clinical and advanced cell therapies for the industry's top pharmaceutical, biotech, academic and healthcare institutions globally. We provide unparalleled capabilities with our lab analysis, sample management and storage services, informatics software, and consumables, with the largest installed base managing millions of samples globally.

How You'll Add Value...

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize our critical data infrastructure, specifically focusing on our Azenta CLIMS environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server and a proven ability to maintain data integrity across global operations.

While primarily focused on the Microsoft stack, our environment is evolving; experience with cloud-native databases and open-source platforms is a significant advantage.

What You'll Do...

  • SQL Server Management: Oversee the overall health of SQL Server instances. This includes proactive performance monitoring, indexing, and advanced query tuning to ensure maximum system efficiency.

  • CLIMS Data Integrity: Perform "hot fixing" and data cleansing within the CLIMS environment to ensure high-quality, accurate information.

  • Global Data Synchronization: Coordinate and manage the database rotation between US and China-based developer teams, ensuring seamless cross-geographic collaboration.

  • Advanced Development: Write complex T-SQL queries to generate essential CLIMS data report files for business analysis and stakeholder insights.

  • ETL & Automation: Design, deploy, and maintain SSIS packages for robust data import/export processes and automated backend maintenance tasks.

  • Reporting Services: Manage the SQL Report Server (SSRS), including the end-to-end creation and maintenance of business-critical reports.

  • Auditing & Compliance: Deploy and monitor SQL Changed Data Capture (CDC) to facilitate troubleshooting and maintain a rigorous audit trail of data modifications.

  • Lifecycle Management: Implement and oversee strategies for historic data archiving and retrieval, balancing system performance with data retention compliance.

What You'll Bring...

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience serving as a Database Administrator.

  • Technical Core: Expert-level command of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, and SSRS.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-Platform Exposure: Experience managing AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or MySQL.

  • Linguistic Skills: Proficiency in Bilingual Chinese (Mandarin) is highly desirable to assist with international data coordination.

  • Cloud Proficiency: Familiarity with cloud database migration and optimization strategies.

Working Conditions/Schedule

  • This is an onsite role in S. Plainfield, NJ or Burlington, MA 4+ days per week
