About the job
Ember Legacy, Inc. is looking for a scrappy, resourceful marketing lead to be our first non technical team member. This is not a brand guidelines and content calendar role. This is a figure it out, test everything, open doors that don’t exist yet role.
We’re a premium family media platform where families record stories, request memories from loved ones, preserve traditions like recipes and life lessons, schedule messages for future delivery, and collect everything in a private archive that grows across generations. Multiple voices can contribute to the same memory, creating something no photo album or journal can capture.
The product is built and in testing. We’re preparing for our soft launch and prepairing for our seed round. Before we go to market, we need someone to help us figure out which families need Ember most, how to reach them, and which messages resonate. Your work will directly shape our go to market strategy, our launch priorities, and even which features we invest in next.
What You’ll Actually Do
You’ll own go to market experimentation across multiple channels and demographics. Ember maps to life’s biggest moments, which means the opportunity surface is enormous. Every week will look different. Here is what that means:
- Identify the audiences who need Ember most and figure out how to reach them where they already are. That could mean new parents, adult children of aging relatives, military families, immigrant communities preserving cultural heritage, or anyone navigating a major life transition.
- Test and build grassroots partnerships: hospitals, senior living communities, hospice programs, religious organizations, cultural centers, veteran groups, family photography studios, estate planning firms, birthing centers, baby registries, and beyond. Find the ones that convert and build repeatable playbooks.
- Plan and execute seasonal marketing campaigns around the calendar moments that drive gifting: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparents Day, baby showers, graduations, weddings, holidays. These are high intent windows and our biggest growth lever.
- Build and run our social media presence from zero across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Test what resonates with different audiences. Double down on what works.
- Own SEO strategy: keyword research, content planning, and execution to capture organic traffic from people actively searching for ways to preserve family stories and memories.
- Explore B2B2C partnerships where Ember becomes an amenity or benefit: senior living chains offering it to residents, hospital systems adding it to the patient experience, employers bundling it as a wellness benefit.
- Identify and engage influencer and creator partnerships: parenting creators, grandparent lifestyle accounts, genealogy enthusiasts, grief and loss community voices, and military spouse creators all have audiences that align with what Ember does.
- Test paid acquisition on a shoestring with small Meta or Google experiments to learn what messaging converts before we invest real budget after funding.
- Help shape the brand narrative for investor facing materials as we prepare for our seed raise.
Who You Are
- You’ve done marketing at an early stage startup before, or you’ve built something from scratch yourself (a brand, a following, a side business) and can show the results.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity. There’s no playbook yet. You’ll be writing it.
- You know how to talk to real people, not just run dashboards. You’d walk into a hospital administrator’s office with a pitch as comfortably as you’d set up a Facebook pixel.
- You understand SEO fundamentals and have experience with keyword research tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, or similar.
- You’re a strong writer who can switch between emotional brand storytelling and clear, direct copy.
- You have a bias toward action. You’d rather test something imperfect this week than plan something perfect next month.
- Bonus: experience marketing to healthcare, senior care, parenting, or cultural community audiences.
Compensation and Structure
This is a sweat equity role. We're pre-revenue, bootstrapped by a solo founder who built the entire product, and preparing to raise our seed round. There is no salary today, but the right person will be rewarded for getting in early.
- Equity: 0.25% to 1.00%, standard 4 year vest with 1 year cliff. Exact grant based on experience and time commitment.
- Commitment: Flexible, roughly 10 to 20 hours per week. This is designed to work alongside a day job or other commitments.
- Path to paid: When we close our seed round (actively preparing), this role converts to a salaried position with market rate compensation. Your early equity reflects the risk you took.
- You’ll work directly with the founder and CEO. No layers, no politics. Your ideas ship.
Why Ember
The family storytelling and memory preservation market is growing fast, with established players raising millions and appearing on national television. But the existing products are limited. Most focus on a single format (written prompts or keepsake books) for a single use case (recording an aging relative). None of them let families request stories from each other, collect multiple perspectives on the same memory, preserve recipes and traditions in structured formats, or schedule messages for future delivery across life stages.
The product is not a deck or a prototype. It’s a real, working app that’s been built and is being tested. What it doesn’t have yet is someone scrappy enough to figure out the go to market strategy and get it into the hands of families who need it.
