About the job

Overview

Resonetics is a global leader in advanced engineering, prototyping, product development, and micro-manufacturing for the medical device industry. With rapid expansion across our locations, we continue to push the boundaries of technology while fostering a dynamic, employee-centered culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement.

We are seeking a SR. R&D Engineer responsible for demonstrating process feasibility and meeting quality specifications on Lightspeed (R&D) ADL projects. This role leads development activities with a strong focus on chemical and mechanical manufacturing methods, including metal etching and electropolishing, as well as mechanical forming and assembly processes supporting sharp medical blades, precision medical components, and sensor applications.

This position works under general supervision, independently executing complex development projects and supporting the transition of qualified processes into production through the PReP process. The role provides technical guidance to junior staff, collaborates cross-functionally, reviews customer prints and supports quoting activities, and engages directly with customers as required.

Join Resonetics and be part of a team that’s redefining medical device manufacturing. If you’re passionate about innovation and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Define, plan, and execute Lightspeed ADL projects from feasibility through transition to production.
  • Develop, characterize, and optimize manufacturing processes including metal etching, metal plating, electropolishing, mechanical forming, dispensing, laser welding, vision inspection, and related operations.
  • Establish, control, and document critical process parameters, understanding key variables that impact product performance and quality
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate process performance; analyze results using appropriate statistical methods and apply findings to improve process robustness.
  • Review and interpret customer engineering prints, providing technical input to quoting activities and ensuring proposed processes meet customer and quality requirements.
  • Participate in customer meetings and calls to address technical questions, communicate project status, and support issue resolution and recovery plans.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Application Development Technicians and Associate Application Development Engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Sales) to ensure smooth project handoffs, effective resource utilization, and timely execution.
  • Participate in cross-site or advanced technology initiatives as requested.
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with focus in R&D working with customers.
  • Ability to understand the operation of complex manufacturing equipment and define, adjust, and document equipment operating parameters to achieve required process and product performance.
  • Proficiency in creating and interpreting 2D and 3D CAD drawings using GD&T.
  • Experience generating job-related documentation for quality and manufacturing purposes.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with both mechanical and chemical manufacturing processes, including metal forming, laser welding, adhesive dispensing, and chemical processes such as metal etching and plating.
  • Experience designing experiments and analyzing data using statistical analysis methods (e.g., DOE, process capability, trend analysis).
  • Prior experience supporting customer interactions, quoting, or technical reviews.

Physical Demands

  • Standing and walking for short periods of time.
  • Ability to use a microscope, including manipulating small object under a microscope.

Compensation

The compensation for this role is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications. The anticipated range is $78,000-$124,000.

For temp, temp-to-hire, and regular full-time positions, our company policy is that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must already be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
