Job Summary

Concrete Industries is looking for a a hard-working, reliable, and results-focused Assistant Production Manager to assist in the daily production operations of Concrete Industries. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assists dispatch operations by working with the Shipping Superintendent with the daily scheduling of shipments to jobsites. Relieves the Shipping Superintendent when absent.

Assists the Production Office Assistant with updates to Exaktime and relieves the position when the Production Office Assistant is absent.

Provides oversight and management of the Quality Assurance Programs for the Pipe and Structural Divisions.

Attends job-site meetings and coordinate with contractors and/or project managers on upcoming contract work to ensure product will be ready for shipment.

Maintains and corrects all inventory of raw materials and sellable/finished products through cycle counting and verifying usage with plant Superintendents. Updates inventories through the Lawson operating system with correct information.

Assesses all incoming shipments of received products for quality and accuracy. Informs proper personnel when received.

Works with NEBCO Human Resources and Safety departments to onboard new hires by contacting candidates with the job requirements and details as well as giving tours to new hires of the complex on their first day.

Completes multiple weekly plant walkthroughs reviewing safety, cleanliness and employee engagement.

Orders and maintains inventory of required PPE for all departments. Dispenses necessary PPE to the workforce.

Ensures all fire extinguishers and eyewash stations are being maintained and are in proper working order.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma required, training or education above the High School level is preferred; and
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated related experience; or
  • equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must possess a high level of technical expertise with ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement while able to maintain good working relationships with all Superintendents.
  • Knowledge of construction worksite practices and procedures is preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
  • Must be detail oriented with an ability to coordinate multiple tasks at one time.
  • Must have an ability to work at all levels with diverse work groups within an organization.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Bilingual skills (E/S) helpful but not necessary.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must have computer skills and be knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint. Lawson or other ERP/database systems software experience is preferred.
  • Prefer previous working knowledge of construction project management, dispatching DOT regulated commercial vehicles and/or inventory control.
  • Must have mathematical skills and some mechanical abilities to understand, direct and solve problems.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and have ability to deal with a variety of situations related to customer relations and business processes.
  • Must be able to work extended hours to meet business needs as required.
