Role: Sr. Sustaining Quality Engineer

Location: Forest Lake, MN (Onsite, 5 days/week)

Salary: $84,000 - $126,000, dependent on skills and qualifications

Position Summary

Responsible for supporting operations by managing and prioritizing customer-related ECOs, corrective actions, MRBs, RMAs, Certificates of Conformance, problem solving, and other related deliverables. This role drives continual improvement of production processes and advises on strategic quality plans to support long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with all employees.
  • Develop, maintain, and update inspection plans and methods to meet evolving quality requirements.
  • Document known/repeat quality issues and implement best practices.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review and approve Certificates of Conformance for released production.
  • Lead root cause analyses and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Manage quality-related items for released products and initiate Engineering changes.
  • Act as liaison between Engineering, Operations, and customers.
  • Mentor junior quality engineers and support their professional development.
  • Provide quality insight and direction to the operations team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality or equivalent experience.
  • Must possess valid identification and be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years in a quality engineering role, including at least 1 year in plastic injection molding.
  • Preferred leadership experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business operating systems.
  • Ability to make timely decisions, prioritize tasks, and support production and quality teams.
  • Deep understanding of contract manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in print reading (including GD&T), inspection methods, and measuring equipment (e.g., CMMs, Vision systems).
  • Advanced knowledge of quality systems, standards, and methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently, apply problem-solving techniques, and manage multiple priorities.

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Requires walking, stair climbing, sitting, standing, reaching, grasping, bending, and flexing.
  • Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make decisions with limited information.

Work Environment

  • Climate-controlled, professional manufacturing facility.
  • Exposure to airborne contaminants, chemical odors, heat, noise, dust, dirt, oil, and waste may occur.

Protective Clothing Requirements

  • Eye and ear protection required in designated areas.
  • Closed-toed, slip-resistant shoes required in certain locations.
