About the job

Lead Product Manager

Join our mission: We are on the lookout for a strategic, forward-thinking Lead Product Manager to join our vibrant team. In this high-impact IC role, you will guide the product vision and oversee the strategy, planning, development, and launch of complex product experiences that continuously raise the bar on quality, performance, and ambition for our cutting-edge pet health platform.

You will act as a "player-coach" without direct reports: leading a cross-functional squad of engineers, designers, and data analysts through influence, while driving alignment across Marketing, Operations, and Enterprise.

Our Product team, composed of dedicated pet lovers, works tirelessly to enhance the health and happiness of pet parents and veterinary professionals. We are devoted to creating accessible, user-centric products. Your strategic leadership, ability to navigate ambiguity, and extensive collaboration will be key in this role.

Please note this is a hybrid role with 2 days in the office at Vetster HQ, at Yonge and Summerhill.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Product Vision: Drive a strategic product roadmap that delivers on business objectives while aligning with our vision of connecting more pet owners with veterinarians. You will look beyond individual features to ensure our product ecosystem is cohesive, innovative, and impactful.
  • Turn Complexity into Clarity: Break down complex, multi-domain problems into discrete phases & clear requirements that deliver value to clients and the business incrementally.
  • Strategic Decision Making: Confidently navigate ambiguity and prioritize impactful initiatives, making difficult decisions with limited information and aligning teams toward shared goals.
  • Lead Through Influence: Champion collaboration and facilitate seamless execution with your squad to create a user-centered, intuitive experience. You will balance user-focused design with business objectives, ensuring every product release aligns with Vetster’s vision.
  • Orchestrate Development Cycles: Manage cross-functional teams from ideation to launch, keeping everyone aligned and on track to meet milestones and deliver exceptional products.
  • Mentorship & Strategy: Drive product reviews, gather insights from product analytics, and lead strategy sessions. As a Lead, you will model best practices and foster innovation to advance user-centered design across the wider product team.
  • Advanced Market & User Intelligence: Stay ahead of industry trends and spot opportunities for feature enhancements and new product areas that address real user needs. Champion the voice of the user, continually incorporating feedback to ensure products meet real needs and create value.
  • Set and Measure Objectives: Establish measurable objectives through clear OKRs, aligning your work with key goals and company metrics.

What You Bring:

  • Senior Product Experience: 7+ years of experience in product management within fast-paced tech environments.
  • Strategic Scope: Hands-on experience scaling one or more of the following in a start-up environment:
    • Subscription engagement & retention
    • eCommerce platforms & optimization
    • Two-sided marketplaces
    • Modern healthcare delivery (Human or Animal)
    • Platform transformations (unification & acceleration of cross-platform delivery)
  • User Experience Insight: Proven experience delivering products that exceed user expectations, focusing on thoughtful solutions to problem-solving. Skilled in collaborating with designers to evaluate and align design solutions with product plans.
  • Analytical & Technical Fluency: Skilled in data-driven decision-making, leveraging analytics, A/B testing, and user research to guide product strategy. Has enough technical know-how to talk with engineers about architecture and technical considerations that impact product.
  • Outstanding Communication: Commitment to developing relationships and communication skills. Able to inspire and guide the product & engineering team and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Entrepreneurial Drive: Demonstrated experience transforming ideas into scalable solutions, with a passion for the intersection of technology and pet healthcare.
  • Passionate Pet Owner: Owner, or previous owner, of pets with a passion for helping pet owners, pets and the people who care for them.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The expected salary band for this position is $140,000 - $160,000 CAD.
  • Competitive salary with market alignment.
  • RRSP matching and Employee Stock Option Plan.
  • Unlimited access to Vetster for your pets, and discount codes to share with friends and family
  • Dog-friendly office environment.
  • Generous vacation and personal day policy.
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits for you and your family.
  • Parental leave top-up.
  • Opportunities for career growth and international assignments.
  • A culture of inclusivity, equity, and team engagement.
