The Deputy Compliance Officer will support the Compliance Officer in ensuring that Nuvo El Salvador S.A. meets all regulatory requirements under local and international AML/CFT/WMDP regulations. The role involves assisting in the development and execution of the compliance program, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and serving as a secondary point of contact for El Salvador's Financial Investigation Unit (UIF) and external auditors. Additionally, the Deputy Compliance Officer will work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer and Compliance team of Nuvo Group companies to harmonize compliance strategies.
Responsibilities:
Act as a secondary liaison with the UIF and regulatory reviews.
Support the Compliance Officer of Nuvo El Salvador in daily AML and Compliance operations.
Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer and Compliance Department of the Nuvo Group entities in relation to AML and Compliance daily operations.
Conduct monitoring of transactions to detect unusual or suspicious activities and prepare reports for the UIF if needed.
Conduct manual customer due diligence (CDD) of potential and existing retail customers where required manual intervention (KYC verifications, including customer identity verification, customers screening against sanctions, PEP, adverse media lists, customer risk scoring).
Review and analyze provided information using internal and external tools in order to assess risks and decide on the further steps that should be taken.
Conduct behavior monitoring, including performing review of customers activity and providing information, identifying red flags.
Ensure all documents submitted are updated and in line with internal policies and risk appetite.
Conduct necessary legal and compliance researches upon request
Help the Legal Department upon request.
Contribute in the development of compliance training plans.
Maintain accurate and updated records of compliance-related activities and ensure timely submissions to relevant authorities.
Stay informed about regulatory changes in El Salvador and international standards, ensuring timely updates to the compliance program.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
1+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, preferably within fintech, crypto or financial services.
Knowledge of AML/CFT/WMDP frameworks and regulatory requirements in El Salvador.
Certification in Compliance and AML area (e.g., CAMS, ICA etc.) (preferably),
Native or advanced level of Spanish.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Location: El Salvador (Hybrid or Remote)
