ispace EUROPE, based in Luxembourg, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Business Development Specialist to join its Business Team.
ispace EUROPE is the Luxembourg-based entity of ispace inc., a leading global lunar exploration space company headquartered in Japan, with entities in Europe and the US. ispace provides lunar transportation services on spacecraft developed in both Japan and the US, lunar surface mobility through rovers developed in Luxembourg and data products and services from across our lunar platforms and operations. We are a small team, motivated by the challenges of the Lunar Frontier, and determined to achieve the company’s vision: to expand and sustain humanity’s presence in space by developing a lunar economy built on the resources available on the Moon!
Reporting to the ispace Europe Business Director, the Senior Business Development Specialist is responsible for advancing revenue generation in the Europe (including UK), Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. In this role, you will actively contribute to market segment strategy development and lead implementation of segment strategy to realise revenue across ispace’s full lunar services and products offerings. You will both generate new customer and market opportunities as well as manage opportunities through the complete business development pipeline, through contract negotiation and to agreement finalisation. You will lead customer/opportunity and proposal win strategy and value proposition development, and manage contributions from across ispace’s global technical and business teams to develop and write content for highly successful proposals and tender submissions to both government and commercial customers. You will work closely with legal advisers and the ispace Europe Business Manager in drafting Payload Services Agreements, NDA and other partnership documents. You will represent ispace at international conferences and events, presenting on ispace missions and achievements, as well as proactively networking to identify new opportunities for sales and partnerhships, to advance ispace as a leading global lunar exploration company.
The position will be based in Luxembourg, on-site and will report to the EU Business Director. It will closely collaborate with ispace EUROPE’s other Business Team members as well as business teams in ispace’s Japan and US offices and technical teams across ispace globally.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
- Manage revenue-generating opportunities through the full business development pipeline, from proactive lead generation through to signed sales agreements.
- Develop market segment strategies to realize revenue for ispace across lunar services and products in the EMEA region, in collaboration with the EU Business Director
- Develop and implement tactical action plans to implement market sector strategies and achieve sales/revenue targets.
- Develop and maintain relationships with ispace partners and customers, proactively investigating and identifying new opportunities to increase ispace revenue or advance ispace’s interests.
- Proposal/bid management, including facilitating win strategy and value proposition development and managing content contribution from across ispace business and technical teams.
- Lead proposal/tender content writing and editing to produce succinct, winning submissions.
- Lead contract negotiations to achieve ispace business objectives in sales and collaboration agreements, in partnership with ispace legal advisers.
- Represent ispace at conferences and events, including presenting ispace plans and achievements to audiences.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor degree and above, with major in (or background in) commerce, marketing, commercial law, engineering or project management.
- At least 5 years experience in business development or sales roles for technical services or products, with proven capability to take leads through to successful sales.
- Contract negotiation experience, including developing commercial terms including payment schedules.
- Experience in space or aerospace business development and sales highly desirable.
- Technical capability or experience in aerospace and space would be an advantage
- Proposal/Bid management and writing experience, experience in complex technical tender or proposal submission development highly desirable.
- Experience in business development/market segment strategy development
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral, and highly adept at networking.
- Strong team work capability – proven capability to lead a team and to also contribute as a team member.
- Fluent in English, oral and written, as a working language. Additional languages such as French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese would be an advantage.
