Role Overview
We are seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to design, build, and test electronic systems for robotic applications. This role involves developing and integrating power systems, sensor interfaces, PCBs, microcontrollers, and single-board computers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in building and testing circuits, firmware development, and custom hardware design.
Responsibilities
- Design and test circuits for power trains, sensor integration, and robotic systems.
- Develop custom PCBs for specific use cases, ensuring compatibility with robotic platforms.
- Integrate microcontrollers and single-board computers into robotic systems for real-time control.
- Build and test firmware for controlling motors, sensors, and actuators, ensuring precise operation.
- Design and implement drivers for various components, including sensors, lasers, and power systems.
- Work with lasers, ensuring their safe and efficient integration into robotic platforms.
- Develop and optimize firmware for sensor fusion and control algorithms.
- Troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues during development and field deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of embedded systems with mechanical and software components.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation of circuits, firmware, and integration processes.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years in embedded systems development and testing.
- Proficiency in PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle).
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM-based, ESP32, STM32) and single-board computers (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi).
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ for embedded firmware development.
- Knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN).
- Experience with sensor integration, including cameras, LiDAR, encoders, and IMUs.
- Understanding of power electronics and motor control systems.
- Experience in building and testing custom hardware for robotics applications.
- Familiarity with lasers and their safety standards is a plus.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing hardware and firmware issues.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in designing and optimizing power systems for robotics.
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and their application in embedded systems.
- Familiarity with testing tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance for electronic systems in industrial environments.
- Experience in low-power design for embedded systems.
