Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer/Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our enterprise data warehouse using Snowflake. The Data Architect will be a member of the Analytics Team within Stepstone’s Portfolio Analytics and Reporting (“SPAR”) department. This pivotal role will be responsible for architecting our data infrastructure, developing robust data pipelines, and ensuring the scalability and performance of our data solutions. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with strategic thinking to drive our data initiatives forward.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design and implement the overall data architecture for our Snowflake-based data warehouse, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with business objectives.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes using Snowflake's native capabilities and other data integration tools.
- Create and maintain comprehensive data models, including the design of star schemas, snowflake schemas, or data vault models as appropriate.
- Implement data governance frameworks, including data quality measures, metadata management, and security protocols using Snowflake's role-based access control (RBAC).
- Lead the evaluation and integration of new data sources into the warehouse, considering both technical feasibility and business value.
- Optimize query performance and data storage using Snowflake's features.
- Implement and maintain data security and privacy measures.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate strategic requirements into technical specifications.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovations to enhance our data capabilities.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 2-4+ years of direct experience with SnowFlake
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
- Experience in designing and implementing data warehouses and data lakes, with an understanding of best practices for scalability and performance
- Deep understanding of data modeling techniques, dimensional modeling, master data management principles and data vault methodologies
- Expertise in ETL/ELT processes and tools, including prior experience with dbt
- Strong programming skills in at least one language (e.g., Python, Java) for data manipulation, automation, and pipeline development
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Certifications in Snowflake (e.g., SnowPro Core, Architect) or other relevant data technologies
- Preferred experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Airbyte for managing DAGs
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI technologies and their data infrastructure requirements
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and experience setting up CI/CD pipelines for data solutions
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical constraints with business needs
- Outstanding communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Salary Range - $115,000 - $130,000
The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience. The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
