Founding AI/ML Engineer (Full-Time)

We are seeking a skilled Machine Learning Engineer with a strong background in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and natural language processing (NLP), with experience deploying into production to contribute to creating an intelligent, mission-critical data experience for defense end-users.

Role Overview:
As a Machine Learning Engineer at Dunedain, you will be instrumental in developing and optimizing RAG pipelines that enable seamless retrieval and generation of military data, building models tailored to complex defense use cases. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered solutions that improve decision-making and streamline workflows in defense settings. This full-time role offers the flexibility to work remotely or in a hybrid capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to integrate machine learning solutions to ensure seamless integration of machine learning capabilities into our solutions.
• Design, develop and optimize retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines to support military data retrieval and contextual generation.
• Fine tune and optimize language models tailored for defense applications, enhancing accessibility to technical data and assets.
• Utilize vector databases and advanced indexing techniques to efficiently store and retrieve relevant information.
• Implement and experiment with cutting edge NLP, NLU and NLG techniques to enhance the capabilities and performance of our AI products.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate machine learning models into production systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the product development process.

Required Skills and Experience:

• RAG & NLP Expertise: Demonstrated experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) models, working with vector databases and fine tuning language models. Understanding of NLP fundamentals to support RAG pipelines.
• Programming Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience Deploying to Production Environments: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Able to collaborate with software engineers to integrate machine learning models into production applications.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to independently drive projects from concept to execution, ensuring solutions align with Dunedain’s mission and the specific needs of defense end-users.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Military Experience
• Prior experience in a startup environment or a track record of contributing to fast-paced, agile projects.
• Familiarity with military or defense sectors, including the unique data security and compliance requirements for these applications.
• Experience with government or defense user platforms, where understanding user-specific workflows.
