Fractional CTO

Satlantis is seeking a strategic, hands-on Fractional Chief Technology Officer to provide technical leadership and grow our engineering capabilities on a part-time basis. As a location-focused social network founded in 2024, Satlantis connects digital and physical spaces with a network of ambassadors and nomads, offering personalized recommendations, portable identities, and Bitcoin integration to help users connect and monetize experiences.

With $1.7 million in seed funding and led by CEO Aleksandar Svetski, our mobile app integrates elements of NomadList, Google Maps, and Instagram to enhance city experiences for nomads, remote workers, and travelers.

The Role:
Guide the engineering team part-time to ensure alignment with product goals and maintain high standards for technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define engineering quality and cadence standards on a part-time basis.
• Collaborate closely with Product to prioritize projects effectively.
• Communicate design and product objectives to the engineering team.
• Make key technology decisions (e.g., languages, frameworks, cloud providers) in line with company strategy.
• Manage risks and budget considerations associated with diverse tech stacks.
• Participate in code review, deployment, and release processes.
• Facilitate team growth through occasional code reviews, mentoring, and training.
• Implement risk management strategies for team continuity.
• Foster leadership growth within the engineering team.
• Review and merge code, tackling high-impact tasks and complex system parts as needed.
• Drive essential tech innovations and long-term technology plans.
• Support feature development and resolve non-urgent bug fixes.
• Uphold the technical integrity and security of the product.
• Work closely with the CEO and executive team for strategic alignment.
• Engage with the CEO and mentors to build leadership abilities.

Requirements:

• Expertise in modern front-end frameworks like React and Svelte.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, database design, optimization, and scalability.
• Experience managing and building RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL endpoints.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) for scalable, reliable infrastructure.
• A history of making strategic technology decisions balancing innovation with stability.
• Strong leadership skills to mentor and grow a collaborative engineering team.

• Experience leading remote teams and optimizing remote workflows.
• Proven ability to scale engineering teams in startups or growth-stage companies.
