About the job
About the Role Fivetran is building data pipelines that power the modern data stack for thousands of companies. We’re looking for a Senior Staff Salesforce Systems Engineer with the technical expertise and collaboration skills needed to maintain strong Salesforce design standards across our organization and evolve our Salesforce CRM to the next level to meet the needs of our rapidly scaling global business. In this role, you'll have a direct impact on the technical excellence of the team by advocating for robust architectural practices, particularly when cross-functional partners push for competing priorities. As a hands-on technical lead, you’ll drive high-quality, scalable solutions within Salesforce while fostering a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement. You’ll also engage cross-functional teams like Finance, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and beyond to align technical initiatives with our broader goals, ensuring Salesforce CPQ and related systems serve as a reliable source of truth. This is a hybrid, full-time position based out of our Oakland office in California. Technologies You’ll Use Salesforce CRM, Salesforce CPQ, Apex, JavaScript, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, Salesforce APIs, Python, HTML, Copado, Git, and web services including WCF, REST, SOAP, XML, and JSON. What You’ll Do
- Architect and Implement Solutions: Design, develop, and implement advanced solutions within the Salesforce ecosystem using Apex, Lightning Web Components, and SOQL, while ensuring architectural integrity.
- Technical Excellence in Code: Engage in regular design and code reviews, setting high standards for code quality, maintainability, and performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure Salesforce architecture aligns with Fivetran’s technical and business goals. Collaborate assertively when technical challenges arise to maintain robust design standards.
- Drive Standards and Best Practices: Establish and enforce best practices across code reviews, deployment, and source control to maintain consistent quality and performance across projects.
- Mentor and Guide Team: Act as a resource for the engineering team, fostering growth in technical skill and helping uphold technical standards, without formal people management responsibilities.
- Advanced Problem Solving: Tackle complex, high-impact technical challenges, particularly around performance and scalability, while maintaining direct technical engagement. Skills We’re Looking For
- Extensive Salesforce Expertise: 10+ years of experience in Salesforce development and architecture, including deep knowledge of Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, and Salesforce APIs. Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex, scalable solutions within the Salesforce ecosystem. 2nd Generation Managed Package experience is a plus.
- Technical Grit and Advocacy: Proven ability to engage in rigorous technical discussions with other teams and assertively advocate for sound, sustainable design.
- Internal Leadership without People Management: Skilled in fostering technical growth, innovation, and a high standard of quality within the team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Enterprise-Level Systems Integration: Strong background in Salesforce integrations with other enterprise systems using APIs, middleware, and IPaaS, with a focus on reliability and scalability.
- Quality Standards and Code Ownership: Commitment to upholding high-quality standards in coding practices, testing, and deployment, with a focus on comprehensive and maintainable solutions.
- Advanced Certifications: Required: Salesforce Developer I & II certifications. Preferred: Salesforce System Architect, CPQ Specialist, or Salesforce Technical Architect.
- Agile and DevOps Proficiency: Proficient in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices within Salesforce, including CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing. Experience with tools like Copado is a plus.
- Clear Communication and Cross-Functional Influence: Strong written and verbal communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical teams, fostering alignment without compromising technical standards. Bonus Skills
- Salesforce System Architect Certification
- Salesforce CPQ Specialist Certification
- Proven experience developing programmatic components to extend Salesforce Enterprise Territory Management functionality
