Manager, Technical Content Development
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will be responsible for researching and developing technical documentation about ChargePoint hardware, software, and services. You will create clean, easy-to-consume, yet detailed technical documentation and training using text, illustrations, video, and other online authoring tools. Your ability to work cross-functionally between engineering, support, testing, marketing, and product management is essential. You will work alongside writers, instructional designers, and illustrators to produce guides and multimedia for internal and external audiences. You will maintain document revision control for content developed in multiple languages.
What You Will Bring to ChargePoint
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to take complex technical product/service information and present in comprehensible and accessible user information
- Perform all phases of technical content development, including planning and research, design, writing, editing, illustrating, and publishing
- Partner closely with support and other teams to develop microcontent and scripts for common inquiries and FAQs to fulfill customers’ self-service requests
- Develop and manage content in authoring tool/management solution including source control and translation
- Create graphical diagrams, flow charts, illustrations, infographics, images, and collaborate with illustrator(s) to incorporate rich media into technical documentation and knowledgebases
- Enhance and maintain documentation by continually reviewing, keeping up to date on released features and innovative technologies
Requirements
- 6-8 years of technical writing and content creation in a complex product environment
- Strong preference for experience working directly with engineering teams on technology products
- Demonstrated ability to learn complex technical products quickly and develop documentation relevant to the target audience
- Proficient in Madcap Flare XML authoring (experience in HTML and CSS a plus) and creation of single-source content
- Proficient in Adobe Acrobat and image editing software (Photoshop, GIMP, Illustrator, etc.)
- Background working with publishing content for different global markets
- Experience documenting UI and API guides for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while meeting tight deadlines
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in an environment with competing demands
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management tools a plus
