The Business Analyst reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. They document requirements, define scope and objectives, and help to design and support systems aligned with overall business strategies.
As a Business Analyst, you will…
- Determine operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating risks & challenges
- Coordinate and collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements, processes, and workflows
- Communicate regularly and effectively with business stakeholders and IT leadership to translate business requirements to project scope and propose new ideas for improving business operations
- Maintain and communicate accurate and up-to-date business documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing, and validation of implemented solutions
- Analyze existing systems and processes for opportunities to improve usability, stability, security, and functionality.
- Build consensus and facilitate dialog with stakeholders throughout the organization (and external vendors)
- Construct work and process flow charts and diagrams, study system capabilities, and write functional requirements and mockups
- Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information
- Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues
- Collaborate with our Project Managers and maintain alignment on project activities with our Project Management Office
- Stay current with and incorporate BA best practices
- Provide after business hours support when needed, especially during UAT phase
The experience we need…
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and business processing skills
- Strong listening & customer-facing consulting skills with the ability to influence, advise, mediate and control scope
- Strong problem-solving and change management skills
- Education: Degree, or relevant certification/diploma
- Minimum 5 years of technology-related experience
Bonus Points if you have the following…
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies (Azure Devops, Power platform, Visio, etc.)
- Business process mapping (UML)
- UI/UX design and role-based security
- Experience with business systems (e.g. especially modern ERP/CRM)
- Service-oriented customer focus
- Understanding of database design and programming interfaces
- Strong understanding and experience working on projects involving SDLC, Software Testing/QA, and Project Management
Work Environment…
- Hybrid work arrangement to be negotiated
- Travel to other locations in BC (5-10%)
