What You’ll Do:

• Lead backend development: Own our backend architecture, designing scalable, high-performance systems using Node.js. You’ll create robust APIs, manage complex data flows, and ensure our technology stack can support rapid growth and flexibility.

• Engineer for efficiency and scale: Architect backend services that handle complex, interdependent logic with clarity and precision to support seamless front-end development. Your expertise in managing intricate conditions that impact multiple parts of the system will be essential to delivering reliable, maintainable solutions. You’ll ensure code consistency, optimize database interactions, develop efficient data models, and implement caching, security, and fault tolerance for scalability. Your work will empower front-end developers to integrate quickly and effectively without unnecessary complexity.

• Own code quality and speed: We’re looking for a backend expert who can deliver high-quality code fast. You’ll bring strong attention to detail across every aspect of the user experience, quickly absorb complex requirements, estimate efforts, prioritize tasks, plan implementations, triage production issues as they arise, keep us on track for launch, and minimize rework.

• Shape foundational technology for launch: Join us at a pivotal stage, just months before product launch. Rather than managing tech debt, you’ll help set a high-performance foundation for our patent-pending technology, defining best practices that will guide the software’s evolution.

Skills and experience:

• Expert-level Node.js development: 7+ years of backend experience, with 5+ years focused on Node.js and building large-scale applications with complex data flows, event-driven architectures, and real-time capabilities.

• API and database mastery: 5+ years of experience designing and optimizing RESTful and GraphQL APIs, with proficiency in PostgreSQL to ensure efficient data access, indexing, and optimization.

• AWS and OpenAI API expertise: 5+ years of experience with cloud services on AWS, including deploying, scaling, and securing backend applications. Experience with integrating external APIs, such as the OpenAI API (e.g., ChatGPT), for advanced AI-driven features is a plus.

• Advanced JavaScript and TypeScript: 7+ years of JavaScript experience, with 2+ years using TypeScript for type-safe, maintainable backend development.

• Testing, CI/CD, and DevOps: 3+ years with unit and integration testing (e.g., Mocha, Chai, Jest), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices for backend deployment, monitoring, and optimization.

• Education: BS or equivalent degree in Computer Science
