About This Role

The Director of Production will oversee all aspects of the production process, with a significant emphasis on visiting manufacturing partners to maintain high-quality standards and compliance. Lead and manage all aspects of the production process, ensuring high-quality output, efficiency, and adherence to timelines. Develop, implement, and monitor vendor compliance policies and procedures, with a strong understanding of industry regulation and market standards. This position is remote with a desired residency in Southern California.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Production Management. Minimum 5 years.
  • Travel Flexibility, with a focus internationally for regular site visits, audit supervision and production oversight.
  • Proficiency in Excel, NetSuite, PLM systems and extensive data management.
  • Physical proximity to the Southern California area strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Vendor Strategy

  • Conduct regular visits to manufacturing facilities to assess operations, quality control and compliance.
  • Manage Production Vendor Guidelines outlining expectations, quality standards and requirements to be met by manufacturing partners.
  • Improve manufacturer performance through quarterly Vendor Scorecards
  • Calendar all vendor audits to cover capacity, social and environmental standards and summarize results with risk management recommendations.
  • Maintain vendor 3rd party certifications and audit quarterly/annually, as needed.
  • Support new manufacturer outreach vetting – research, screening, counter sampling, onboarding.
  • Ongoing knowledge of industry standards and regulations, ensuring strict adherence.

Quality Control Standards

  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance quality and production operations.
  • Lead the compliance to our Product Quality Standards both internally and externally.
  • Establish and review new collection Production Risks with Inventory.
  • Effectively communicate updates to product construction to Inventory and Quality Control Manager
  • Ensure all TOP and supporting reference charts are up to date for Inventory Team
  • Respond and coordinate action items to Retail QC callouts with Inventory and Quality Control Manager
  • Weekly assessment of HG data reporting, notating product pulls for review.
  • Bi-weekly review of HG product, summarizing findings and coordinating with Inventory and Quality Control Manager on action items.
  • Actively manage ongoing vendor Corrective Action Plans (CAP).
  • Initiate quarterly product testing and summarize results.
  • Coordinate bi-monthly ad hoc QC reviews of core A SKUS, review results and implement corrections as needed.

Production Order Management

  • Upload and maintain all vendor Purchase Orders and costing within both WFX and NS
  • Evaluate and assign QC levels to all open orders based on product history.
  • Manage PO timelines and deliverables – WIP Reporting, review and track key production stages.
  • Capacity planning to assess reduced lead time opportunities.
  • Review Production Risks documents with vendors and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate overseas production line QC, review results and correct, as needed.
  • Provide all vendors with breakdown of packaging requirements and monitor overseas packaging levels/allocations.
  • Approve and book incoming imports with carriers with goal to maximize timelines and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure all costing is current/updated in WFX and NS
  • Coordinate incoming shipments and invoicing internally.
  • Prepare and present production reports to VP of Product, highlighting progress, challenges and opportunity for process improvements.

Product Development Support

  • Active partnership with Product Development to identify and build Production Risks document for new collections and provide construction improvement recommendations based on HG reviews.
  • Review and lead manufacturer communication to approve or reject all new collection TOPs.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to establish QC Standard for new collection.
