Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager is a member of the Corporate Accounting team of StepStone Private Debt (SPD) and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of SPD’s Activities.

Essential Job Functions:

The position requires a detail-oriented, proactive, and team-oriented individual. Specific duties include:

  • Oversee the financial statement close and all accounting activities for SPD
  • Responsible for Consolidation of SPD Group and ensuring timely and correct close
  • Supervise and review month-end journal entries
  • Supervise, review, and perform general ledger account reconciliations
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations
  • Review of all account reconciliations and ensuring that all questions raised are followed up timely
  • Supervise the (out-sourced) Accounts Payable process
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements on a monthly basis
  • Participate in the SOX quarterly reviews and annual audit process
  • Ensure SPD Group adheres to corporate accounting policies
  • Maintain local statutory books, responsible for half year (where required) and full year local and consolidated financial statements
  • Coordinate with the S. accounting team and other subsidiaries to ensure transactions are recorded accurately
  • Responsible for VAT reviews and timely filings, VAT analysis and ensuring all transactions are compliant with local rules
  • Continually assess areas for improvement opportunities
  • Manage and track progress of team projects
  • Develop team members
  • Other projects and duties as needed

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting or Finance; ACA/ACCA preferred
  • Minimum of five years of professional accounting experience
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role required
  • Prior public accounting experience preferred (Big 4 or Large Regional)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting concepts
  • Experience with intercompany transactions, statutory reporting and/or foreign currency translation a plus
  • Must be sharp, articulate and highly motivated
  • Experience training and managing professionals and reviewing the work of others
  • Must be a team player
  • Highly proficient in using Excel, Word, and other Microsoft office programs
  • NetSuite general ledger experience a plus

  • VAT knowledge – Switzerland and Ireland
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client, investment and company information
  • Ability to prioritize activities while working on multiple projections and achieve target deadlines
  • Must be able to effectively oversee the work of others and meet department goals
  • Ability to problem solve and leverage technology
  • Acute attention to accuracy and detail
  • Professional demeanor and an ability to work well in a team environment
  • Willingness and ability to learn and implement new programs and processes
  • Willingness to travel if required
