Staff Software Engineer

At Equals, we're building the only spreadsheet with built-in connections to any database, versioning, and collaboration - executing over all of your data, and powering powerful dashboards.

You'll be joining a of team of people with 10+ years experience building software and companies in Silicon Valley. Our founders were both executive level leaders at Intercom.

We've all felt the pain of existing spreadsheets first-hand and are highly motivated to build the next generation. We believe in hiring experienced, high-agency individuals and giving them the space to do the best work of their careers. We're looking for someone excited to tackle large and difficult problems to improve our spreadsheet engine, building and maintaining the highly performant and correct systems that power Equals.

Responsibilities

• Building on top of our core spreadsheet foundation, creating new features to level up what's possible in a modern spreadsheet.
• Working to optimize and refine our spreadsheet engine - including formula parsing, formatting, reference tracking and automated data connections over infinite data sets.
• Building best-in-class data visualization.
• Innovate with new features that merge classical spreadsheet paradigms with modern data connectivity features.

Requirements

• Ambitious and can lead projects with a high level of autonomy, comfortable with ambiguity.
• You can break down large, and complex problems into pieces of work you can ship quickly.
• You obsess about the details and quality of your work, deeply understanding the problem and context of the system.
• 10+ years of senior-level experience building high quality web apps.
