SR. PRODUCER, LIVE EVENTS AND LONGFORM
SpaceX is seeking a highly-motivated and self-driven individual to join the broadcast team as a Sr. Producer of Live Events and Long-Form in Starbase, TX.
As a key member of the Communications team, the Sr. Producer is a visual storyteller who owns live broadcast coverage for Starship launches, helps commission supporting assets, and supports the production of internal and external events. This position also manages physical production and asset management for third party documentary and other long-format filming projects.
The ideal individual for this role is a multi-faceted and innovative problem-solver and project manager that produces great creative work, manages talent, and delivers initiatives on time, on budget, and on strategy. This role’s core objective is writing and producing Starship live broadcasts, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including the broadcast, creative content, external communications, and internal communications teams, that surprises and delights SpaceX audiences around the world.
The successful candidate is a strategic thinker and experienced writer who is a natural verbal and written communicator who thrives in an engineering-focused, always-on, fast-paced and dynamic environment. The Sr. Producer is a team player with proven ability to inspire and motivate the team to deliver world-class creative work. The Sr. Producer embodies the algorithm in their work every day, making requirements less dumb and deleting processes that do not add value.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee activities of Starship launch broadcasts from Starbase and related livestreams, including content creation, liaising with customers, and all production coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as producer and show caller for broadcasts, serving as central point of communication for talent and crew during broadcast.
- Develop and implement content strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives for various platforms and projects, including live events, broadcasts, social media, and other digital channels.
- Support documentary and other long format filming requests at Starbase including approvals, scheduling, interview prep, physical production, asset management and approvals, and directly managing third party film crews to ensure content aligns with SpaceX’s filming guidelines, messaging, and overall objectives.
- Actively monitor and track significant milestones for the company and put plans in place to create supporting broadcast content.
- Collaborate with internal content producers, designers, and other key members of the team to develop imagery and visuals around company achievements, milestones, and goals to ensure the most innovative and effective messaging is delivered.
- Monitor the performance metrics of broadcasts and related content to improve content development strategies.
- Provide training and mentorship to SpaceX webcast hosts and manage auditions as necessary.
- Maintain trackers, status reports, and key process documents
- Be the conduit between existing teams and customers for asset management and data collection
- Set and own project timeline and budget for highly complex and large-scale projects
- Create and review RFPs, treatments, budgets, project schedules, and distribution plans to support strategy, goals, and content production
- Negotiate and manage project statements of work, estimates, and related deliverables
- Manage external vendor relationships (talent, talent managers creative teams, illustrators, photographers, design firms, production companies, etc.)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of experience in live event or television production working with creative teams, including both internal creative teams and/or external agency partners
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong understanding of photo, video, and digital creative production, best practices
- Prior hands-on experience with physical production, post-production
- Ability to effectively communicate complex topics with impeccable writing skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience working in an always-on, fast-paced, and dynamic, team environment
- Proven ability to thrive under pressure and parallel path multiple workstreams
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to travel in support of events and launches
- This position will work out of our headquarters in Starbase, Texas – remote work will not be considered
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Sr. Producer: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
