About This Role

As the leader of the Trust and Safety Engineering Team, you ensure our ongoing focus on preserving the trust of our community. This team delivers a set of tools, capabilities, and features that keep Strava in compliance with privacy and portability laws, enable detection and remediation of spam and abuse, and keep user data private. Our systems are used by other engineers and community management team members at Strava and are part of the fabric that keeps Strava functioning for our community members.
This role is based in our San Francisco, CA office with a hybrid in-office work requirement of at least 3 days per week.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:
- Lead a team of server engineers supporting Trust and Safety concerns at Strava.
- Identify and drive the strategy for the capabilities and tech investment work that builds a great foundation for trust and safety for the long-term
- Partner closely with product, legal and operations teams to deliver on the most critical priorities for the business.
- Build an inclusive and impactful team culture within your team.
- Work closely with other engineering leaders on team wide initiatives such as hiring, the intern program and career development
You will be successful here by:
- Engaging in work with an empathetic and business-aligned leadership mindset
- Working closely with internal stakeholders and understanding their needs
- Coaching the engineers on the team and supporting their career development, at all different levels and career stages.
- Applying exceptional judgment to challenging situations.
- Embracing an inclusive, collaborative environment that elevates a diverse set of voices and experiences.
We’re excited about you because you:
- Have a track record of delivering trust and safety initiatives for a user facing application with a user generated content component.
- Have experience leading and managing multiple teams of engineers with experience managing managers and staff+ engineers.
- Have experience working with product and other stakeholders to balance short term deliverables with long term technology investment.
- Have 5+ years of experience working in Trust and Safety and 5+ years of management experience, with at least 2 years of experience leading managers.
